# 2-132 NABH GHANA

/ 67.5
Summarized description of the proposed Action (by the Applicant)
a)What is the need, the constraint to alleviate, or the initial situation you want to improve?
Answer:
The national association of beauticians and hairdressers who depend on quality hair products for their work face a major constraint due to the influx of fake products on the Ghanaian market.
These products are gradually collapsing the hairdressing industry due to their harmful effect on their clients. Due to the presence of these fake hair products, beauticians have to deal with dissatisfied clients who now turn to hair plaiting. Some of the effects of these fake hair products are the burning of the scalp and in some cases even baldness. We all know that the beauty of a woman lies in the hair so many of them are very particular about the way their hair turns out.
The hairdressing business is collapsing mainly because of this constraint.

Answer:
From the above analyzed situation there is the need to alert the Ghana Standards Board, Food and Drugs Boards, The Environmental Protection Agency and the Customs Excise and Preventive Service in order to help formulate policies to curb the importations and also involve the beauticians and hairdressers association in the testing and certification process of hair products.
There will also be a greater awareness among beauticians and hairdressers as well as the general public on the existence of such products.

Answer:
  1. We will hold workshops for our members in all 10 regional capitals to create awareness and sensitize them on the alarming presence of fake products on the market.

  3. We intend to have a series of workshops with all agencies i.e. the Standards Board, CEPS, EPA, and the Food and Drugs Board to come up with policies and pragmatic ways to minimize the influx of fake hair products. Also to impress on the Standards Board to involve the association in the testing and certification of hair products.
