Tompkins FFA Weekly Update 11-10-14

Fresh Country Meat & Dessert Fundraiser will be delivered on Tuesday, November 18th. A text via the remind Text System will be sent when orders may be picked up. We are anticipating that they will be ready to go by Noon that day. Please pick up your orders that day, we have no way of keeping the items frozen overnight.

Fuddruckers Fundraiser

Tuesday, November 11th from 4-9pm, Fuddruckers Hamburgers by Katy Mills Mall will be donating a percentage of each order that turns in a “Fuddraising Ticket” when the order is paid to the Tompkins FFA Booster Club. Please helps support the Tompkins FFA Booster Club by eating at Fuddruckers by Katy Mills Mall tomorrow between 4-9pm. The “Fuddraising Ticket” is attached to the email.

FFA members/parents are needed to help pass out “Fuddraising Tickets” in front of the Fuddruckers between 4-8:30pm tomorrow. Please wear a Tompkins FFA shirt, jacket, hoodie. You may sign up in the Ag Classrooms or by replying to the email sent by Terri Kainer, Booster Club Secretary.

Tompkins FFA Booster Club

Please join the Tompkins FFA Booster Club if you have not already done so. The Booster Club cannot communicate with you if you are not a member. Please fill out and turn in your Booster Club dues to the Ag Teachers or at the next Booster Club meeting. We know that everyone cannot make it to every meeting, but it is wonderful to see everyone each month and it is reassuring to everyone that we are all there to support each other. The Booster Club Membership Form is attached to the email.

FFA Meeting:

Our next FFA Meeting will be on Monday, December 8th at 7pm. Students will meet in the LGI.

Booster Club Meeting:

The Next Booster Club meeting will be on Monday, December 8th at 7pm in Mr. Hill’s classroom.

Seitz Fundraisers

Our last and final fundraiser of the school year is Meat, Desserts, and Fruit. Forms will be passed out on November 12th in class and will be due to Mrs. Sheffield by Nov. 25th.

Please make sure you meet your fundraiser minimums of $500 to earn your FFA jacket or show your animal at the livestock show.

Santa Cops:

At the October FFA meeting, FFA members voted to adopt 4 children through the Katy ISD Santa Cops program. We are expected to spend an average of $100 on each student. Tompkins FFA members are encouraged to bring money (cash only please) in exchange for community service hours. $10 = 1 community service hour with no limit on the number of hours! There will be opportunity for additional service hours when we go shopping and wrap the presents for the children in early December. All money is due by December 2nd.

Quality Counts Deadline:

Quality Counts is an online program to help FFA and 4-H members learn about responsible feeding and raising of their livestock projects. All livestock showers must successfully complete the online certification test one time in high school. If you are in Mrs. Sheffield’s Principles of AFNR class, you will be doing this in class. If you are not in her class, then you need to do this on your own at home or arrange to stay after school with the Ag Teachers to complete it.

Anyone showing at Katy Livestock Show, Houston Livestock Show, or the San Antonio Livestock Show MUST take and pass the Quality Counts Verification Test.

Leadership Development Events:

Thursday, November 13th, ALL Tompkins FFA LDE teams will be competing at the District 7 FFA Contests at the Merrell Center in Katy. Over 20 students will be competing in 8 different contests.Teams must be 1st or 2nd place in order to advance to the Area Contest on Saturday, November 21st. If you are on a team, please make a strong push these last few days to prepare.Last year we won 5 banners with 2 teams advancing to the Area contest, let’s do even better this year!
