The Toledo Institute for Development and Environment (TIDE) is one of Belize’s leading non-profit, non-governmental organizations working to promote conservation and sustainable development in southern Belize. Established in 1997, TIDE works with local communities in the Maya Mountain Marine Corridor (MMMC) of Toledo and the Ministries of Fisheries and Natural Resources to manage the Port Honduras Marine Reserve (PHMR) and Payne’s Creek National Park (PCNP), monitor and protect fresh water resources throughout the district, and promote sustainable development to build the local economy. In addition, TIDE manages ~30,000 acres of private lands that are held in perpetuity for the people of Belize.

We are seeking anInformation Technology Officer to manage the IT department at TIDE’s Headquarters.

MAJOR FUNCTION:

The Information technology Officer is responsible for the revision and maintenance of TIDE’s website, the overall maintenance of IT related equipment and to provide technical assistance to staff as required. Your immediate supervisor will be the Operations Manager..

MAJOR DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the ongoing revision of TIDE’s website to ensure that it is a high quality medium for effective communication
  • Ensure the effective management and maintenance of TIDE’s website.
  • Service and maintain all computers, printers, faxes, cameras owned by TIDE
  • Be responsible for maintaining a quarterly inventory of all equipment related to information technology.
  • Serve as TIDE’s official Photographer and manage the photographic library.
  • Work closely with senior staff to provide support for meetings, conferences or other function.
  • Provide Technical assistance to members of staff in the production of promotional materials as required.
  • Provide assistance to staff in conducting research via the Internet
  • Upload Newsletters and promote special occasions on TIDE’s website
  • Assist withspecial events, projects and extra curricular activities of TIDE.
  • Perform other duties compatible with the post to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the organization

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Enhance the organization’s public relations by actively participating in meetings, workshops, etc. that are related to the development of the organization.
  2. Perform any other duties and administration functions in support of TIDE’s priorities as requested by the supervisor.

education and experience:

1.Associates degree in Information technology and at least 1 year of work experience.

2.Excellent time-management skills and ability to meet multipledeadlines

3.Experience with website design

4.Experience with servicing IT Equipment

5.Good Public relations skills
