TOLEDO HARBOR LIGHTHOUSE 103rd YEAR FESTIVAL

July 7th & 8th, 2007 Maumee Bay State Park,

Saturday, 10a.m.- 8p.m. Sunday10a.m. – 5 p.m.

Dear Artist/Crafter:

Wow – the 2006 festival was a great success. We got very positive feedback from many. Generally we will keep the same arrangements as in 2006. We continue to hope that soon the public will be able to visit the inside of the lighthouse – this will be dependent on weather. This is an invitation to invite you back to our festival, or for new artists/crafters to invite you to have an exhibit of your art/crafts, at the 103rd Toledo Harbor Lighthouse Festival. Since this is a lighthouse festival, we focus on waterfront, wildlife, and nautical exhibits. Other art/craft exhibits may be accepted on a case by case basis.

The 103rd Toledo Lighthouse Festival, (our fourth), promises to be the best ever. The Toledo Harbor Lighthouse Preservation Society is growing in membership and enthusiasm as we look forward to gaining access to the lighthouse and restoring it. The purpose for the festival is to share information about this magnificent Great Lake’s Lighthouse that is architecturally unique, and to raise funds, through the 501c3 nonprofit organization, for lighthouse restoration.

This year’s festival includes free entertainment with Surfin Beachboys music by the Bonkers on Saturday evening, and will again feature island music in the festival area. This will be the third year for the Lighthouse Sand Castle contest and in 2006 we added a Lighthouse Photo Contest and a Clam Chowder Contest. The Sand Castle Contest gets lots of interest on the beach. There will also be tours around the lighthouse (maybe in the lighthouse), Keepers Tales, food and more. There will be stories about the lighthouse and publicity in the month before the festival. Attendance at the festival continues to grow. Comments from the 2006 artists/crafters gave very high marks to the festival. The festival will be listed in all area papers, television stations and radio. The Toledo Harbor Lighthouse is again featured in the Great Lakes Lighthouse publications.

To keep the spirit of our festival, all artists/crafters should include a waterfront/nautical presence for the display. The artists/crafters area will be located off the shores of the inland lake and exhibitors can see Lake Erie to the north. All exhibits are located near parking and all other festival activities. You can pull up a vehicle to unload. Toledo Harbor Lighthouse items are encouraged. Each display area is 15’ x15’. The cost is for the space is the same as 2006.

The artists/crafters area will be carefully screened to maintain the integrity and quality of all art/crafts exhibited. At least two-thirds of the exhibit must be done by the exhibitor. I hope that you will join us as an artist/crafter at this 103rd year celebration. An application is attached. Please note that a space is $30 before April 1 and $35 to July 1. If you have any questions, please call at 419-691-3273.

Sincerely,

Peggy Welsh
