Housing Information for International Students

This is to announce that Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) starts the application process of Tokyo International Exchange Center (TIEC)for international students (including research students)as follows. After nomination by Meiji University, residents will be officially decided through the paper screening by JASSO.

1. Location: 2-2-1 Aomi, Koto-ku, Tokyo

2. Access: 3 minute walkfrom Fune-no-Kagakukan Station on the Yurikamome Line

15 minutewalk from Tokyo Teleport Station on the Rinkai Line

1 minute walk from Fune-no-Kagakukan bus stop

3. Qualification:

(1)Capable international university student(or research student) who obtains the visa status of “College Student”and can commute from TIEC

(2)Those who are able to move into a room between December10, 2012 and January 31, 2013

4. Available rooms:

Single room in Hall A / Single room in Hall B / Couple room in Hall C / Family room in Hall D

5. Period of residence: Until March 20, 2014

6. Cost required:

①Room rent (choose one from below)

Single Roomin Hall A (20 square meters): 35,000 yen / month

Single Roomin Hall B(30 square meters): 45,000 yen / month

Couple Roomin Hall C (80 square meters, 2LDK): 65,000 yen / month

Family Roomin Hall D (100 square meters, 3LDK): 75,000 yen / month

②Initial cost: Same amount of one month’s rent (at the time of moving in, non-refundable)

③Lease fee for bedding: As needed

④Other: Actual cost of utilities will be directly charged to the residents

7. Room description:【Single】shower, toilet, sink, air conditioner, bed bedding, chair, bookshelf, refrigerator, phone etc.

【Couple/Family】bath, toilet, sink, kitchen (with electric range), air conditioner, bed & bedding, sofa, dining table, chair, desk, bookshelf, refrigerator, washer/dryer, phone etc.

8. Documents required:

①Tokyo International Exchange CenterApplication (University Form)

②Application for Tokyo International Exchange Center (JASSO Form 1-1)

③The proposal for implementation / participation of exchange activities at TIEC (JASSO Form 3)

④Photocopy of student ID card (both sides)

⑤Photocopy of passport (including photo and landing permit pages)

⑥Foreign Registration card (both sides)

⑦(For Couple/Family Room) Official document certifying the family relationship with applicant

9. Application process and deadline:

Application process: Submit all the required documents to the International Student Office

Deadline: 17:00 on November 13 (Tue), 2012

10. Result:The result will be informed only to the candidatesby November 16 (Fri), 2012

11. Selection:

After nomination by university, the candidates will be screened based on the following criteria by JASSO.

The final result will be announced aroundNovember 30.

(1)Those who can proactively participate invarious international exchange events organized by TIEC

(2)Those who came to Japan within one year will be given priority

(3)Candidates’ nationality and university may be considered in order to welcome as various nationalitiesand

universities as possible

(4)Expected long-term residents may be given priority

(5)Number of Japanese resident assistants at home university may be considered
