Curriculum vitae of Ignacio Boixo

Ignacio "Nacho" Boixo is coordinator of the XBRL Network of the Committee of European Banking Supervisors, the European Institution whose responsibilities include the harmonization of the European Banking Supervision frameworks, promoting best practices in Europe as well as delivering the XBRL implementations of both the reporting frameworks COREP (Basel II - Solvency ratio) and FINREP (IFRS - Financial Reporting) which are now used, along with National XBRL extensions, in more than half of the member countries of the European Community.

Ignacio has played a pivotal role in the promotion and development of XBRL, initially in Spain and Europe, and more recently in Latin America.

He was, from 2005, manager of the team that developed the COREP and FINREP taxonomies, as well as playing a crucial role helping in the creation of the XBRL Dimensions specification. To foster the best interaction with and understand of both COREP and FINREP by the European Banking Supervisors, Ignacio organized bi-annual COREP-FINREP workshops that were each attended by almost one hundred participants from more than twenty countries.

He was the Manager of the Spanish XBRL Jurisdiction when established in 2004, and in 2008 moved to the International Relations. XBRL Spain has 50 members and is very active in XBRL projects and taxonomies. The procedures for taxonomy development and acknowledgment have been fully normalized and have been made public on the XBRL Spain website. XBRL Spain also acts as a focal point for XBRL in Latin America, where Ignacio, building on his successful European model, organizes quarterly events (fifty to two hundred participants), newsletters and weekly conference calls. XBRL Spain is also a founding member of XBRL Europe, where Ignacio is both involved in the XBRL Europe Working Group and acts as webmaster. He also managed the creation of www.xbrlwiki.info, which currently is the only public wiki site specialized in XBRL.

After the completion of a MSc. in Computing Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, he works in a Consultancy firm, from where he joined the Bank of Spain almost 30 years ago. He also holds a Diploma in Financial Economy from the Autonomous University of Madrid.
