Other / The Proposed General Manager is responsible for the Following:
1.  Provide overall management and supervision of GL/VL operations under the terms of this contract
1.  Monitors and evaluate operator performance.
2.  Monitors and evaluate operator adherence to schedule.
3.  Monitors and evaluate operator procedures.
1.  Monitors and evaluate dispatcher performance.
2.  Monitors and evaluate dispatcher customer service.
3.  Monitors and evaluate dispatching procedures.
1.  Provide timely and accurate information to customers
2.  Point of Sales
3.  Keep record of sales, stock and order merchandise
1.  Oversees the Transit Center is clean and safe environment.
2.  Performs hourly inspection/cleaning of bathrooms.
3.  Janitorial duties as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned, such as, janitorial, maintenance, dispatching, and bus operator duties.
Knowledge/Abilities: / ·  Must have good customer and employee relations skills with ability to communicate effectively with the public and employees.
·  Must have excellent decision-making skills. Must have extensive working knowledge of public transit. Good oral and written communication skills are required.
·  Thorough knowledge of the methods of operation of the transit system’s staff and operational departments.
·  Thorough knowledge of basic laws, ordinances and regulations underlying the transit operation.
·  Ability to analyze a variety of complex problems with the ability to make sound recommendations for their solutions and to prepare working procedures.
·  Ability to work effectively and closely with the City’s Transportation Manager, Supervisors, and all Staff.
Working Conditions: / ·  Fifty (20) percent outdoor activities. Fifty (80) percent indoor activities.
·  May include working in inclement weather as needed.
·  Ability to work varied hours – all shifts within a seven-day work week.
·  Ability to drive a transit vehicle or dispatch, if needed.
Qualifications: / ·  AN H6 DMV DRIVING REPORT (NO OLDER THAN FIVE DAYS) MUST BE ATTACHED WHEN APPLICATION IS SUBMITTED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.
·  Current DMV print-out with no significant safety related restrictions.
·  Possession of a valid California driver’s license.
·  Acceptable driving record-must be qualified for SM Transit insurance coverage.
·  Must be willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
·  Demonstrate the ability to use personal computer and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and various office equipment and software.
·  Pre-Employment and Random Drug and Alcohol Testing Required.
Education: / ·  High school graduate or equivalent is required. A two year Degree required in business administration or related field is preferred.
Experience: / ·  Must have a minimum of five years of experience in Public transportation operations
·  At least three years’ supervisory experience.
·  A Bachelor’s degree in a related field from a four-year college may substitute for two years of transportation experience and one year of supervisory experience.
·  Experience preferred in the transportation of the developmentally disabled.
