RE: Choir class offerings

DATE: 5/3/17

Good Morning!

This is just a quick note to remind you of the courses I teach in case you are interested in taking one of my music classes. The counseling staff will only place you in one of my classes if YOU request it----so PLEASE TELL your counselor.

******Alsobe aware that there are students out there on Birmingham's campus who may not know that you have to audition to be placed into my "Vocal Ensemble" Period 4. (Auditions are May 22-26, 2017 after school in room J105)

This is the "Chamber Singers" class that went to the Worldstrides Choral Festival in Seattle this year! Each audition consists of me going through some vocal warm ups with you, you singing a song of your choice (a cappella--no background music), and some questions asked by the judging panel. Each auditioning student needs to bring a print out of their grades from their SLC office.

That's it! Please TRY OUT! Singing is fun!!

Thank you all for your interest!!!

*****ALL my classes are open for students in ANY SLC and in ANY grade level!!

I can take up to 60 students each class because I have 60 chairs in my classroom.

As of April 2017, my classes for the 2017-18 school year are as follows:

Per. 1"Chorus SH A" : THE beginning choir class for ANY 9-12 grade student.

Per. 2"Glee A" (women’s choir): (ANY GIRL- grades 9-12, with some singing experience, interested in adding can add this class. Be warned, it is a little harder than per. 1 & 7 and you will be moved to another class if unable to match pitch)

Per. 3NO CLASS

Per. 4 "Voc Ensemble" (chamber singers):(This class is by audition only,

DO NOT ADD, unless I said it was ok, interested students need to see me in J105)

Per. 5 "Musical Theater" *** Newer class offering***: This class is for students interested in singing "Broadway Musical" songs. The focus is on solo singing and preparing students in becoming vocal performers for the Broadway stage.

Per. 6 "MU HST LT AN A" (Music History): This is a music history/music appreciation class and it is a NON-PERFORMING class. Any 9-12 grade student.

Per. 7 "Choir SH A": This is an intermediate choir class for ANY 9- 12 grade student. (Period 1 and 7 are basically the same class)

So again, if you have always wanted to sing (I strongly encourage you to try :-)

and check out my period 1, 2, 5, or 7! Especially GUYS (I always need more guys)!

Thank you for your consideration!! Michael Suffolk
