Centered at the top of the paper you need to list:

  • The title of the lab that you are replacing

  • The name of the scientist.
  • The source(s) where you obtained your information.

  1. Where and when was this person born?
  2. What about this person interested you?
  3. What is the main reason this person is famous or remembered?
  4. Where did this person grow up?
  5. What was his or her family like? Did he or she have parents, brothers and sisters or other people that lived in their home?
  6. Where did he or she go to elementary school?
  7. At what age did this person first show a talent or interest in their future career?
  8. What role did the family have in encouraging or discouraging development of the talent or interest? Were they supportive, or did they disapprove?
  9. What special training or education did this person have? Did they go to college, serve as an apprentice, or have some relevant work experience that inspired them?
  10. At what age did this person first do something that people, other than his or her family, thought was exceptional? What was the accomplishment?
  11. What unusual things happened in the person's life that had an effect on this person's career?
  12. Did this person have any physical handicaps or other obstacles they had to overcome in order to be successful? How did they do that?
  13. What was the skill or special thing this person could do that made them get noticed in their field?
  14. Would you say that mainly natural talent, hard work, or luck achieved success? Explain what makes you think so.
  15. How was this person’s contribution important to his or her country or to society in general? How might life be different if this person had not accomplished their contribution to science?
  16. What special honors, awards, medals, or prizes did this person receive for his or her work? Who awarded the honors and why was that significant?
  17. Are there any memorials, monuments, buildings, cities, or other things named in this person’s honor? What are they and where are they located?
  18. Was there a special event that was a highlight in this person's life once fame was achieved? For example, do sources relate that the opportunity to meet a world leader or receive prestigious award help the subject to really feel appreciated for their contribution?
  19. List the major accomplishments or works this person is know for. It could be inventions, discoveries, books or other types of things. Major accomplishments means that all people would find those things important or that they had a great impact on human life or the field of science.
  20. How would the world be different if this person had not achieved the accomplishments that made him or her famous?
  21. When and how did this person die? How old was he or she?
  22. Why will this person always be remembered?
