Objective

To produce one- and two-point perspectives using DVIEW and 3DORBIT

One-point perspective:

A perspective view is created by specifying a line of sight. In AutoCAD the line is from a CAMERA (Xcamera, Ycamera, Zcamera) to a TARGET (Xtarget, Ytarget, Ztarget).

For a one-point perspective, two pairs of coordinates must be equal. For instance, for a birdseye perspective as shown below,

Xcamera = Xtarget
Ycamera =Ytarget
Zcamera!=Ztarget /

For both DVIEW and 3DORBIT, begin with either PLAN, or side elevations. Use the VIEW tool bar to set the view. Do not use the ISOMETRICS as they will produce a 3-point perspective.

DVIEW

Once your view is set, enter DVIEW and immediately enter the Distance sub-command. Use the slider to frame the view. Exit DVIEW.

Command: plan

Enter an option [Current ucs/Ucs/World] <Current>:

Regenerating model.

Command: dview

3DORBIT

Once the view is set, enter ORBIT (3DORBIT) and right mouse click. Choose PROJECTION and PERSPECTIVE from the submenu. Exit ORBIT

Note: Starting with a PLAN will give what is called a "birdseye" view. Other one-points can be generated by starting with any orthogonal view TOP, FRONT, BACK, ...

Two-point perspective:

For both DVIEW and 3DORBIT, choose the menu command:

VIEW/3D Views/Viewport Presets

Make sure the right side of the middle white box is set to zero degrees - the ground plane. The left side is the azimuth. Place that anywhere. The resulting view will be like an isometric except that the viewing eye will be on the ground.

Repeat the above directions and you will have a two-point perspective.

Ycamera != Ytarget
Zcamera= Ztarget /
