Student/Parent/Teacher Compact

Mt. Olive High School

Mt. Olive High School and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share responsibility for the improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the state’s high standards.

This school-parent compact is in effect during the 2014-2015 school year.

As a parent/guardian, I agree to do the following:

  • See that my child attends school every day and arrives on time unless they are ill.
  • Ensure that my child completes their homework daily.
  • Monitor my child’s progress by attending Parent/Teacher conferences, looking at schoolwork, monitoring grades online via Power School, and communicating with the school by promptly reading all notices from the school either received by my child or by mail and responding, as appropriate.
  • Provide a positive environment which supports education and encourages respectful, responsible behavior at school and home.
  • Attend school programs and parent workshops that will empower me to help my child succeed in school.
  • Participate, as appropriate, in decisions relating to my child’s education.
  • Promote positive use of my child’s extracurricular time.
  • Serving, to the extent possible, on policy advisory groups, such as being the Title I, Part A parent representative on the school’s School Improvement Team, the Title I Policy Advisory Committee, Building Leadership Team, and/or PTA.

As a school, we agree to do the following:

  • Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the National Common Core academic achievement standards. Researched based instruction and interventions are used to meet each individual student’s needs. Curriculum maps are aligned to the Common Core Standards at grade level. Teacher teams analyze and coordinate the curriculum as well as discuss ways to meet each student’s needs.
  • Hold parent-teacherconferences to maintain communication and discuss this compact as it relates to the individual child’s achievement. Specifically, those conferences will be held on October 22 and 24, 2014.
  • Provide parents with progress reports on their child’s progress every 4-5 weeks through midterm and quarterly reports, and access to Power School to see daily progress.
  • Provide parents reasonable access to staff for consultation with parents after school from 3:10-3:45, or by appointment, email, or telephone.
