Congratulations to our IB seniors who will be graduating in less than a month!

In a couple of weeks, our NHHS IB seniors will be sitting for their IB exams. During March and April, the IB teachers have reviewed the content of the IB courses and had students practice taking IB exams using materials from past exams and access to an online exam preparation site, Smartbacc. Our goal is to equip our students with the knowledge and tools to be successful on these exams.

NHHS IB Exam Information

Location: North Hall Community Center

Dates: May 2, 2016 – May 12, 2016

(See attached exam calendar for specific information.)

Times:Morning Exams* – 8:00 a.m.

Afternoon Exams* – 1:00 p.m.

*There may be a few exceptions where exams will begin at 8:30 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m. due to scheduling conflicts with the location. These times will be communicated to students well in advance.

Please remember that the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) sets the IB exam schedule. North Hall High School has no authority to deviate from the dates/times set by the IBO. The IBO is very clear about the three circumstances in which they will consider allowing a candidate to reschedule an examination:

• “conflicts between IB examinations scheduled for the same time and date

• conflicts between the scheduling of IB examinations and the examinations

of other awarding bodies, including university entrance examinations

• emergency situations” (i.e., civil unrest, hospitalization of the candidate)

“Changing the time and/or date of an IB examination will not be authorized for any other circumstance.Therefore, rescheduling will not be authorized when an IB examination coincides with a competition ofany kind, a school event, a local or national holiday, school examinations, or an occasion involving a familyrelative or any similar event. Exceptions will not be made.” (2016 IB Handbook of Procedures, p. 81).

The IB exam schedule is set by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). Students MUST sit for these exams at their designated dates/times listed above per the IBO’s policy.
