Walkability Awards
For more than 60 years, the Heart and Stroke Foundation has worked to reduce the toll of heart disease and stroke and tangibly improve the health of all Canadians. We’re transforming how society thinks about, prevents, manages and lives with heart disease and stroke.
Heart&Stroke Walkabout™ and the Licenced Professional Planners Association of Nova Scotia are partnering on this initiative to advance our shared belief that walkable environments are important in the lives of Nova Scotians. Together we celebrate people, communities and organizationsthat are making communities and other environments more walkable in Nova Scotia.

Nominations are accepted through mail, email or fax. Award recipients will be announced in early 2017.
Nomination CategoriesCommunity Champion / An individual, community group, public organization (e.g. school) or non-profit organization that has contributed to making a neighbourhood, facility, space or geographic community more walkable.
Mi’kmaq First Nation, Town, Village or Municipality / A settlement or administrative division that has contributed to making its jurisdiction more walkable.
Private Sector / A business development association, chamber of commerce, entrepreneur, small business or corporation that has contributed to making a community, workplace, or business site more walkable.
