ROTARY YOUTH DRIVER AWARENESS-Saving lives
The RYDA Program is conducted at an out of school venue and is presented to students with the theme of “My Life My Choices”. RYDA includes six sessions that are designed to be interactive and cover a broad range of topics including hazard perception, stopping distances, fatigue, and experiences from a crash survivor plus vehicle safety
Focusing on the mental health of young Australians
Studies have revealed that within a 12 month period, 7% of Australians aged between 0-17 years and 26% aged between 16-24 years were experiencing mental health problems. Australian Rotary Health has this year commissioned seven new projects that will be funded in the year 2012, all of which will centre on Australian Rotary Health’s new focus;the mental health of young Australians.
Exchangesusually last one year, during which youattend school and live with families in yourhost country. To gain a greater understandingof the culture, you will live with at least two,preferably three, host families during yourstay. To ensure your safety, the host Rotaryclub conscientiously screens and selects vall host families.
Science and Engineering Challenge
Do you want an exciting way to show students science and engineering in a new light?
The Challenge is an outreach program conducted nationally by the University of Newcastle. It is designed to inspire students to study science and engineering at a senior level.
Each challenge day, up to 250 students participate in a series of exciting competitive activities. These activities are designed to demonstrate the varied and practical elements of a career in the science and engineering industries.
The Challenge takes the students out of the classroom and gives them a day of fun, teamwork and discovery.
Rotary's leadership training program for young people.
RYLA ages 14-30emphasizes leadership, citizenship, and personal growth, and aims to Demonstrate Rotary's respect and concern for youth. Provide an effective training experience for selected youth and potential leaders. Encourage leadership of youth by youth -Recognize publicly young people who are rendering service to their communities
Since 1985 Rotary and its partners have beenworking hard to make history by eradicating the crippling disease Polio from our planet.While Australia is currently Polio free, it remains only one plane trip away from us. 2011saw cases of Polio worldwide reduced by 99% since starting! Millions of Rotary volunteer hours have been donated to achieve this result.
