BUILDING DEPARTMENT

Michael W. Shepard

Building Commissioner

6 December 2010

Dear Neighbor:

As you may know, the Renovations and Additions to the John D. Runkle School are underway. The contractor is G&R Construction of Quincy, Massachusetts. You may begin to notice on-site work as early as this week. It will start out with the erection of the construction fence, and activities related to selective demolition of the interior of the existing building. In the coming weeks, there will be site work including demolition of the existing addition to the building facing Clinton Road. A copy of the current schedule is enclosed for your information, along with the Construction Management Plan furnished by the contractor.

The management plan was crafted in accordance with the contract documents and should address many of the questions you may have relative to the work and its impact on the neighborhood along with efforts to mitigate any of your concerns.

As you can see from the schedule, the duration of the work is anticipated to be about twenty months, with a planned completion date of July 2012.

The Town of Brookline will carefully monitor the work of the contractor. We will be represented on site at all times work is ongoing. Mr. Russell Hoogasian, Project Representative and Town employee will have a field office on site. Once that office is in place, we will furnish you his telephone number. In the meantime, you may reach him at 617.879.5689 or by email at . Of course, you may also contact me at 617.730.2044 or by email at .

At this time, and on behalf of the Runkle School Building Committee, I would like to invite you to the groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, December 13, 2010 at 8:30 a.m. It will be held on the play field adjacent to Clinton Road.

Thank you for your support of this project and for your involvement to date. I look forward to seeing many of you next Monday.

Sincerely,

Anthony Guigli

Project Administrator
