Re:Area Track Meet Information

Dear Coaches,

Pearland High School District will host this year’s UIL Area Track and Field Meet for districts 21-5A and 22-5A. This year the meet will be held on Wednesday April 16, 2014, with Thursday April 17, 2014 as an inclement weather day. The meet will be held at The Rig on the campus of Pearland High School. Please review the information below as well as the additional attachments.

  • We will use DirectAthletics for the online entries for this meet. The meet will be established as soon as your District meet is over. The top four finishers from each districtqualify per event.The following deadlines must be met:

  • All field events will be ordered in reverse according to the 21-5A & 22-5A final district meet results for the prelims (3 attempts). After three throws, we will re-order the athletes in reverse according to the prelim results and conduct the finals (3 attempts). All six attempts will count for the final results.
  • The running events will follow the UIL order and will run according to the attached time schedule. Lane assignments will be determined according to the 21-5A & 22-5A final district meet results.
  • AdkinsTrak Timing Associates is the timing contractor for this meet. All race results will be approved by the meet referee before being finalized. Any protest must be made in writing within 30 minutes of completion of the race.
  • The Rig is located at the intersection of Oiler Drive and Pearland Parkway. For most schools in this meet, the best way to arrive is to exit Pearland Parkway and go south. BUS DRIVERS – Please park in the back parking lot nearest Pearland Parkway.
  • Ticket prices will be $5.00 for both students and adults. THSCA, TGCA, and THSADA membership cards will admit two per card.
  • The Area Scratch and Information Meeting will take place on Moday April 14 at 6:00pm. The meeting will be held at the Pearland High School 9th Grade Center Cafeteria at 3775 S. Main, Pearland TX 77581 (this is the building furthest north on the PHS campus). No changes to the entries or meet format will be made after the conclusion of this meeting.
  • We will need workers from each school participating in the Area Meet to help with the events. Once we determine which schools are involved in the meet, we will attach the names of schools to each event (see attachment). We will do our best to keep this list of workers to a minimum for each school. Please bring a list of your workers to the scratch meeting.
  • We have secured the services of four unattached meet officials for this area meet. Their assignments for this meet will be: Meet Referee: Frank Orsak; Inspector of Implements: Kay Griggs;Field Judge: Bob Ligon; Starter: Tom Joy.
