Purpose of the Job / To improve internal communications within the organisation by developing and implementing a tactical internal communications and stakeholder engagement plan, and to monitor its effectiveness.
Key Activities:
· To develop and implement a tactical internal communications plan
· To act as the internal communications adviser within the organisation
· To have a good understanding of business planning and ensure all internal communications are in line with the organisations business objectives
· To lead on employee engagement activities and initiatives
· To demonstrate internal communications best practice
· To deliver internal communications using a variety of channels for maximum efficiency
· To measure effectiveness of internal communications and make improvements where needed
· To assist the HOM in developing the intranet development project
· To interview, write up and manage the organisations case study’s and biographies.
· To work with the HOM and Digital Marketing Manager to maximise the use of the organisations internal communications digital channels.
General terms of reference:
In carrying out the above duties the post holder will:
· Work collaboratively across the organisation and with the market team
· Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with the brand guidelines and policies of the organisation
· Seek to improve personal performance, contribution, knowledge and skills
· Participate in appraisal, training and supervision processes
· Attend the charity’s conferences
· Contribute to maintaining safe systems of work and a safe environment
· To ensure all activity is undertaken in accordance with the relevant legislation.
Person SpecificationEssential criteria:
· A degree or professional qualification in marketing and/or communications. These include Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) or Chartered Institute of Public Relations qualifications (CIPR)
· At least two years’ experience in an internal communications role is required, preferably in a management position or a position where you have directly supported manager
· Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are also essential.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Internal communications planning and implementation experience using a variety of channels.
· Must have the ability to prioritise and work under tight deadlines
· Experience of using an intranet to help facilitate internal communications
Desirable criteria:
· Experience of handling issues and crisis management
· Project management and budget management skills
· Experience of using Microsoft SharePoint
