Subject: Southwell - Blocked drains

Hi Jo

I have had several reports of blocked drains – see extracts from emails to me below.

I have been asked to ask NCC again to provide a maintenance schedule for the drain cleaning in Southwell – when we last discussed this you indicated it wasn’t easy to provide as work is often emergency and reactive – hopefully this position has changed?.

Can you please help by advising

1 when the drains were last cleaned in Southwell

2 when the next clear out is planned

3 in particular report on what has been / will be done about the problems noted below

Many thanks

Carol

1) Two people referred to the Halloughton Rd overflowing water down onto Nottingham Rd problem Clearly there has been problems with blocked drains in the last few weeks but also there appears to be a big problem opposite No 65 from a spring in the field to the south of Halloughton Rd. Apparently Severn Trent consider this a water table problem.

2) ………of Westgate comments that there are blocked drains outside No4, & No 6 and No 62 also at the bottom of Lowes Wong

3) ……..of Ridgeway says that there is a blocked drain outside "Redroof" house

4) …of .. Springfield says that there is a "huge hollow" on the pavement on the Ropewalk just where the pedestrian pathway to "leeway" joins. He says this fills with water and is soon an annoyance as people try to avoid the puddle - I looked at this myself on Saturday but as it was dry I saw no puddle - I have no idea therefore how serious this is it may just be a very shallow puddle?

5 ) ……also add the roadside drains on Church Street, from the Cathedral shop to the Potwell dyke bridge on the southside, and from |||||||||||||||||||| house (just past the car park on Church St) to the dyke bridge. These were reported to the NCC in April, and they claimed to have sorted them out. But last week in the rain they were still showing signs of blockage. Can these be raised again, and ask for a report on what has been done and when?
