You’ll have noticed that there’s no longer a staff member attending the coffee morning at the Solaris. This is because you don’t need us! This is a “peer support” activity and it’s clear that you enjoy meeting up and supporting each other and we are now surplus to requirements! Obviously if you want to make your own arrangements between yourselves please do so but we will continue to advertise the event in the newsletter so that any new people have a reference point.

GREAT NEWS! Last week we received an anonymous donation of £500 to Dementia Services, it gives us a real boost when people let us know how much the service is appreciated and to receive a donation too is fabulous. If you have any suggestions about how we could use the money please let us know.

We have also made changes regarding the collection of money for trips, etc. As you know up until now we have collected cash and cheque payments when we have seen you at events. From now on the only time that we will be handling payments is on the trips for people who pay on the day and the payment will be locked away in a cash box. We still prefer trip money to be paid beforehand for ease of administration. Payment can be made via our office at 333 Bispham Road, FY2 0HH either in person or you can send a cheque through the post. All cheques should be made out to Empowerment. Unfortunately we do not have the facility for you to pay by card.

One last thing, if anyone would prefer to have their newsletter e-mailed rather than posted please can you provide us with an e-mail address as it greatly reduces the time spent on distribution.

Please keep attending events and don’t forget we’re always here for support either via home visits or telephone.
