  • Contacted Chapter Chairs and Archivists regarding the recommendation to transfer chapter materials to a regional institution for better access to materials. SCPA Curator (Vin Novara) responded to multiple queries regarding chapter materials in the MLA Archives at UMD.
  • The following chapters have decided to endorse the recommendation of the MLA Archivist (depositing institution specified when known): New York State-Ontario, SEMLA, California, Midwest (UMKC, Special Collections), Pacific Northwest (University of Washington, Special Collections), Texas (tentative commitment from University of North Texas), Atlantic (UMD – in the chapter’s region).
  • The following chapters have tentatively endorsed the recommendation, contingent on whether an institution can be identified: Greater New York, NEMLA.
  • The Mountain Plains chapter did not endorse the recommendation and will be keeping materials at UMD.
  • Responded to various queries regarding submissions, digital storage, web archiving, etc.
  • In collaboration with the MLA Web Editor (Verletta Kern) and Curator, SCPA, established a regular schedule for crawling the MLA website for archiving: annually, mid-October; on-demand when requested. The old website was archived on-demand and digital files were submitted to UMD for storage on a server. Submission of hard copies of web files will be officially discontinued.
  • UMD is demonstrating their TRAC compliance towards existing as a trusted digital repository through their Digital Preservation Policy available at Additional questions regarding UMD should be directed to Vin Novara ().
