ACADEMIC CONDITIONS FOR THE EXCHANGE

Please be aware that your study exchange has been approved on the basis of the units/modules which you submitted on your BU Learning Agreement. Any changes made to the nature/content of your study exchange without the prior approval of your Course Leader will jeopardise your progression at Bournemouth University.

You must also be aware that your study exchange will only be recognised on a pass/fail basis. You will be expected to pass your study exchange in order to progress at BU; however the grades from the study abroad period will not count towards your final degree classification. You will receive BU credits for the units studied during your exchange.

OTHER PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE EXCHANGE

You must comply with the rules and regulations of the host institution during your study period. This includes attending sessions and examinations, complying with their rules governing expected behaviour and procedures as well as academic standards.

You will be attending an institution abroad where cultural expectations and the legal and regulatory framework may be different from those in the UK. In particular, you should note that not all countries in which Bournemouth University has have Exchange partners will have similar regulatory frameworks in areas such as health and safety or equality and discrimination. Bournemouth University and the host institution will work together to support you if you have any problems or difficulties while you are overseas. However, you must recognise that it is your responsibility to familiarise yourself with local custom and requirements, and to ensure that you behave appropriately and take reasonable steps to ensure your own safety.

IMPORTANT HEALTH AND SAFETY DECLARATION

•I understand that my BU travel insurance will not be valid if I am travelling in an area/ region or country against UK foreign office advice.

•I understand that BU travel insurance will not cover incidents resulting from the use of alcohol or drugs.

•I understand that I am covered by BU Travel Insurance for 1 week either side of my study abroad period, should I travel independently either before or after my exchange then I will need to purchase my own travel insurance.

•I agree to read the foreign office advice for countries that I’m visiting as part of my study exchange.

•I agree to sign up for email updates from the UK Foreign Office website for the destination that I’m travelling to as part of my study exchange.

Statement by outgoing exchange student:
