HOW TO REGISTER FOR THE HAP CONSULTANT DIRECTORY

To assist participants in locating a consultant to meet their 10 hours of consultation EMDR Basic Training Requirement – following the Institute Basic Training Model -- HAP has created an online directory forEMDRIA Approved Consultants who are interested in providing consultation to HAP trainees.

Requirements for being on the HAP Consultant Directory:

  • EMDRIA Approved Consultants must be active on the EMDRIA site
  • Consultants-in-training who have completed at least 10 out of 20 hours of consultant training will be asked to download a simple one-page form to complete so we can confirm their status with their consultant before they are made active in our directory as a consultant-in-training.
  • In order to be made active on this directory, you must have attended a HAP or Institute Part I or Part II Basic Training Event no earlier than 2007. We want to ensure that HAP consultants are familiar with the HAP training model that your HAP consultees have experienced.

If you have not attended a HAP training event, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator, to make arrangements for you to sit-in on a Part I or Part II Basic Training.

  • To register on the HAP Consultant Directory, youmust use your HAP volunteer account;this will enable you to enter completed consultation hours into the HAP system:
  • If you are an active HAP volunteer (part of a present or past HAP training faculty)you already have an account, you can go into your volunteer account and sign up for the Directory, following the instructions below.
  • If you do not currently have a HAP volunteer account, follow the instructions below for creating one.

NOTE: Although you are required to have a HAP volunteer account, you are not “volunteering” as a consultant. Consultants should negotiate with HAP trainees (or agency reps who are arranging consultations) regarding fees and meeting methods (in-person, by phone or Skype) for individual or group consultation.

Active HAP volunteers: if you have been assigned to a HAP eventyou have a HAP account.

To log in to your existing volunteer account, go here: to get to “Loginto Your Existing Account.” (If you have forgotten your user name and password, you can follow the link to request them. Please do not create a new account, as this will lead to an unnecessary duplicate.)

Non-HAP volunteers:you do not need to volunteer for anything, you do need to be an

EMDRIA Approved consultant on the EMDRIA site (or a consultant-in-training with at least 10 hours) to be able to register as a consultant – you will use your volunteer account to enter completed consultation hours into the HAP system.

To create a HAP volunteer account:

Go to: Fill in all of the information and hit save and continue or save and exit. We would appreciate you completing all of the pages, but for the purpose of being able to register for the HAP Consultant Directory, you at least need to fill in and save the first page.

To log in to your “existing” volunteer account, go to and put your mouse over “Volunteers.” You will then see a drop down window with several options: choose “Login to Your Existing Account.” (If you have forgotten your user name and password, you can follow the link to request them. Please do not create a new account, as this will lead to an unnecessary duplicate.)

Once you are in your account, you will see at the top:

Quick Links

  • Assigned Projects
  • Assigned Events
  • Account Information
  • Consultant Activity

Click “Consultant Activity,” which will bring you to the bottom of the page. There you will see:

Consultant Activity

You are not currently registered as a consultant. If you are an EMDRIA-certified consultant or consultant in training you may register as a consultant to be listed in our directory.

Please click “Register as a Consultant.” This will bring you to a “Consultant Memorandum of Understanding.” Please read it, and if you agree to the terms, please click the button “I Agree to the Consultant Memo of Understanding.”

This will take you to a new window, where you will:

  • indicate your consultant status (EMDRIA-approved consultant or consultant in-training)
  • note whether you have attended a HAP training event (we ask that consultants attend a HAP event to familiarize themselves with the training their HAP consultees have received)
  • choose type of consultation offered (individual, group or both),
  • choose medium of consultation (in-person, phone and/or Skype).

You should also indicate your area(s) of specialty, language(s) spoken, website (if you have one) and your preferred phone number.

Once you enter this information, your status is pending until the volunteer coordinator reviews your responses. If your credentials are current (including your EMDRIA status), the volunteer coordinator will make you an active consultant on our online directory. If your credentials are not current, we will contact you and assist you with completing the process.

Consultants in-training will be asked to download a simple one-page form to complete so we can confirm their status with their consultant before they are made active in our directory.

Once you are an active consultant, our system will let youview your consultant activity, which includes:

the ability to download a consultation worksheet (to track the hours of a consultee with their trainee ID number),

record a consultation (details to follow),

view past consultations

view or edit directory information.

Keep in mind that while you may work with groups that contain non-HAP trainees, you can only use this system to record the hours of HAP trainees.

If you decide that you no longer wish to be active on this directory, you may contact HAP and we will make your directory page inactive, and you will no longer appear in the directory.

We are excited about this new system, if you have any questions, please contact the HAP Volunteer Coordinator:
