Nomination Procedures 2015-2016
Introduction
The D. Richard Wynn Award was initiated by the Executive Committee during the 1988-89 school year. Procedures to nominate organizations which are to be considered for the award have been approved by the Executive Committee. Each point in these procedures should be addressed in the application in order to be considered in the review process.
Nomination materials for School Board accomplishments during the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015school years must be received by Tri-State byFebruary 1, 2016. Awards will be presented during the School Board andDistinguished Educator Banquet on March 17, 2016, at the Edgewood Country Club, 100 Churchill Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15235.The nominated board must be available to receive the award at the banquet.
Nominating Procedures
Fill out the nomination form below, being sure to
(1)List the names of all school directors who were involved over the two school years of 2013-2014and 2014-2015.
(2)Identify important issues which were addressed during the two-year period. For each issue, provide a brief description of the interactions between the Board and the professional personnel who were involved in the issue. Each issue should reflect directly on improved schooling for students. If the resolution of the issue led to the development of policy, identify the policy.
The issues cited in the application should indicate effective problem solving process; issues need not be conflict free.
(3)Each application should be accompanied by a resolution from the Board indicating their support of the documentation.
Evaluation of Applications
The Leadership Committee of the Executive Committee will review all applications and recommend awardees. All applicants who meet the criteria will be considered for the Award. More than one award may be granted each year.
The criteria which will be used to review each application will be as follows:
- Were the issues directly related to improved schooling for students?
- Was each issue described clearly?
- Were Board-School District personnel interactions described?
- Were the problem solving processes effective in addressing the issue and should these processes be cited as exemplary practices of School Boards and school personnel?
