To add a 'Full Patient Record' Printout to Docman in Vision 3

Why?

The requirement is to include in Docman the Full Patient Record currently sent as a paper printout of the computer record when a patient transfers out, but now within Docman so it can be included in the Docman to Docman eLinks transfer.

This avoids all printing out and posting, or scanning back into Docman.

Note that the V3 Help files states:
'But there are some details the Full Patient report omits which strictly speaking by law the patient should see on the printout – the patient's Previous Surname, and the Second Forename and Other Forename (other than the first forename). It also does not record whether the patient is cared for by a carer. Note they are not allowed to see the name of the carer on a printout, just a Yes or No if cared for by one.'
and does provide workarounds for this to be applied before producing the Full Report.

What Does Vision 3 do?

The Vision 3 built in approach is to select the Patient Report 'Full' from Searches and Reports as shown below:

Select the 'Full' Report Type, and the patient, as in the screenshot above,

and then click on 'Print' to change the output type to Printer:

Get a Virtual Printer Driver

Scottish Health Boards’ IM&T departments have agreed to install a 'Virtual Printer Driver', as there are several different types available and not all networked printer environments are the same for installation.
Once that is done, move on to the next step.

Print the Report to the Virtual Printer Driver

Click on Print Options and change to your Virtual Printer

If your HB have supplied an “Acrobat” Driver to make a file of the “.pdf” format it will look something like this:

Or if your HB have supplied a “Microsoft Office Document Image Writer” Driver to make a file of the “.tif” format:

Click Print again, and the report will be sent to the Virtual Printer, creating a file of either .pdf or .tif type.

You will be asked to choose a name and location for saving the file: we suggest the patient’s initials and Save to Desktop.

COPY THE VIRTUAL PRINTER DRIVER FILE INTO DOCMAN

Either of these types of file can then be easily imported into Docman by Drag and Drop onto Docman’s “Drop-a-Document-Here” icon on the Desktop.

After doing this immediately delete the file from your desktop because:

1it’s large and would slow the PC, but more importantly

2it’s not OK to leave ex-patient details on your desktop.
