Introduction and Job Purpose
To support the Finance Manager in the delivery of all financial and management accounting requirements, working with departments across the College to ensure accurate reporting of information.
To deliver a high quality service in developing the awareness and practical application of financial procedures and to be an advocate of sharing good practice by providing advice and support to managers and staff.
Key Accountabilities
  1. To assist in the production of the monthly management accountsand year end forecasting

  1. To ensure that income and expenditure is accurately recorded within the finance system

  1. To liaise with budget mangers and relevant staff to investigate variances against budget

  1. To reconcile the balance sheet and ensure that discrepancies are investigated promptly

  1. To assist in the production of annual financial statements and reports, including the Finance Record and Financial Plan

  1. To liaise with auditors as required

  1. To assist in the development and distribution of faculty contribution reports

  1. To supervise the College Sales Ledger and credit control function, and provide management information as required

  1. To assist, where necessary with the maintenance of all financial ledgers and provide support to the Finance team as required

  1. To reconcile the College bank accounts on a daily basis and maintain the Cash Book

  1. To maintain the Fixed Asset Register including the posting of additions, disposals and depreciation

  1. To complete the quarterly VAT return

  1. To provide cover for the Payroll and to assist in data checking entry

  1. To collaborate with the Finance team to ensure deadlines are met and procedures are followed

  1. To liaise with the finance system provider to ensure the maintenance of the system and rectify any issues

  1. To comply with the College’s Data Protection policy in relation to the collection, use, storage and disposal of personal and/or sensitive data.

  1. Undertake staff development and training as required to that duties can be performed to a high standard

  1. Comply with the College’s Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding and Health and Safety policies and schemes.

  1. To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be expected commensurate with salary, both within and, where required, external to the College.
