Half-term 2 /
This half term I will learn:
  • ToRecall, select and communicate knowledge and understanding in design and technology including its wider effects.
  • ToApply knowledge, understanding and skills in a variety of contexts and in designing and making products.
  • To Analyse and evaluate products, including their design and production.
Half-termly assessments will be:
  • Work will be internal assessed under controlled assessment guidelines. All grades will be checked, verified and recorded by the classroom teacher based on the AQA marking scheme specification 4560.
  • Unit 2: Design and Making practice is worth 90 marks – 60%
  • Criteria 1: Investigating the design context - is worth 8 marks. The recommended hours to complete the making is 6.
    Criteria 2: Development of design proposals - is worth 32 marks. The recommended hours to complete the making is 17.
  • Students will complete a 2hr exam paper based on their design practice and theory knowledge of the subject.

I will identify a problem for a target market and then make a suggestion on how their design idea will solve it. I will analyse the use of the product,conduct a research plan and write down the design brief.

Use ACCESSFM to research 3 existing products relating to the brief.
