Re: Window Shade Replacements and New Installations
In the past, many window shades have been discarded due to failed shade fabric, yet the roller (retracting mechanism) was totally functional. In an effort to reduce maintenance costs and more effectively utilize resources; Effective January 1, 2006, please observe the following process when requesting replacement and/or new installation of window shades.
NOTE: This process does not include surface mounted vertical or horizontal window blinds, which are not maintained, installed or replaced by the Maintenance Department. All horizontal window blinds between the window sashes will continue to be serviced by the Welding and Metalworks Shop.
Replacement of existing window shades:
Requests shall be submitted per the existing work order process.
Existing shades will be repaired/replaced on a one-for-one exchange basis (for each shade requested a defective one must be turned in).
If an exchange shade is not turned in, the request shall be treated as a new installation (school will pay).
Installation of new window shades:
Requests shall be submitted per the existing “School Will Pay” Process. The cost is approximately $28.00 per window for a single roller shade and $46.00 per window for those requiring an upper and lower shade.
