SUBMISSION OF QUESTION PAPERS

NOVEMBER 2014 (BOTH OPPORTUNITIES)

Your attention is kindly requested regarding the following resolutions:

The submission date for master copies of question papers for the November2014examination (both examinations) as shown in the Calendar of the General Yearbook, Part 1 is

Monday, 29 September 2014. These question papers have to be handed in at the offices of the Examinations Section, Administration Building Block A, Room 2075. The last day for the submission of question papers, duplicated by the Department itself, is

Wednesday,22 October2014.

1 (a)All question papers should be accompanied by a fully completed cover sheet (available on the Web in both English and Afrikaans). Copies of the cover sheet can also be collected from the offices of the Examinations Section.

Please note in instances where the Department will be duplicating the question paper of a specific module, you will be required to submit a fully completed cover sheet on the first submission date.

When these question papers are submitted on the second date of submission a copy of the completed cover sheet has to accompany the duplicated question papers.

1(b)The examination for which a question paper is intended, should be stated clearly in the heading. A question paper for the first examination of a module should be indicated as the First Examination and the second examination as the Second Examination.

It is important that in instances where a paper consists of a number of sections, each with a specified duration, the total duration of the paper should appear in the heading of the question paper. If omitted, it may cause confusion.

1(c)It is vital that the cover sheet be completed with care, especially regarding the date, starting time and duration of the question paper.

1(d)All master copies of question papers have to be signed (in PENCIL) on the back of the last page or they will not be accepted.

2Faculties/departments may, in exceptional circumstances, assume the responsibility of duplicating one or more of their question papers. Written permission must be obtained from the Registrar.

The decision will be dependant on whether:

2(a)the assurance can be given (in writing) that the department can provide the necessary infra-structure and security for the duplication process.

2(b)the request is approved by the Dean of the Faculty.

NOTA BENE: If permission is granted to a department to duplicate a question paper for the FIRST EXAMINATION, copies have to be made for the full number of registered students for that specific module and not only for those students that have been admitted to the examination. It is also required that an extra 10% (with a minimum of five) copies be made of a question paper. (If less than the required number of copies are submitted, it will not be possible to distribute the correct number of copies to the various examination venues, because the personnel of this Section have no way of knowing how many students have either terminated their studies or have not been admitted to the examination.)
