The outstanding achievements of students, staff and faculty will be recognized at the annual Honors Convocation, Sunday, April 20, 2:00 p.m. at the Magoffin Auditorium.

The process to honor students begins with the academic department and programs completing the attached 2008 Student Honoree Form and submitting it to University Relations Office (via e-mail to , by fax at 747-8248, or by campus mail) by Wednesday,March 12, 2008. In order to help you complete the form, a copy of the 2007 University and Department Awards is also attached to serve as a reference document. Note: Student recipients of University scholarships have been recognized at the Annual Scholarship Luncheon and should not be includedfor recognition at Honors Convocation.

GUIDELINES

Departments may honor the following groups of studentswho graduated insummer2007, December 2007, or will graduateMay 2008:

  1. One academically outstanding graduate studentand one academically outstanding senior by major
  2. Use separate form if more than one major applies
  3. Department award(s) named in honor of someone
  4. Scholarships not included
  5. Recipient does not necessarily have to be graduating in the 2008 academic year.
  6. Department Graduate and Undergraduate Thesis Honoree
  7. Note: The GraduateSchooland UniversityCollege are responsible for conducting the selection process. Please contact these offices respectively, for more information.
  8. Other Student Awards:
  9. The award is based entirely on academic achievement and is administered through the Department, Dean’s, GraduateSchool or UniversityCollege offices respectively.
  10. The award is based on stipends of $500 or more (scholarships not included).
  11. The award is based on the Office of the Provost making the final decision on nominations.
  12. Department “Honor” Societiesregistered with the StudentDevelopmentCenter.
  13. Inorder for the form to be completed signaturesare needed from the department/program head and College Dean (electronic signatures are accepted).

We hope you take this opportunity to honor your students and encourage othersto attend this important ceremony. Convocation invitations with specific parking and seating instructions will be mailed to each student, faculty, and staff by the end of March.
