TLA 2016 Conference Travel Stipend

The Tocker Foundation has provided funds to award stipends to persons in eligible libraries of rural Texas to attend TLA 2016 in Houston, April 19-22, 2016. Persons from libraries that serve a population of 12,000 or less qualify to apply for this grant. Staff that are directly involved in the day to day operation of the library are the primary focus of this grant. Deadline for applications is February 1, 2016.

Each Tocker TLA Conference Travel Stipend is for up to $1,700.00. The funds can be used to cover the following conference expenses:

-  TLA Membership and Conference Registration

-  Pre conference workshop

-  Meal functions at the conference

-  Travel costs

-  Expenses (meals, cabs, etc.)

-  Cost of replacement staff if needed

Those selected to receive a stipend will be asked to volunteer two hours during the conference. Volunteers are always welcomed for the SCLRT or the Texas Book Festival booths. Volunteer forms may be found on the TLA web site: http://www.txla.org/volunteer-conference. It is also suggested that stipend recipients plan to attend a preconference and the Small Community Libraries Round Table (SCLRT) function/s. All stipend recipients will receive a ticket to attend the Opening Author Luncheon where they will be recognized as a group.

NOTE: The stipend application does not register you for the conference. Attendees should register directly with the Texas Library Association. Please see conference website link for housing. Candidates are responsible for making their own hotel and travel arrangements.

Online applications are available on our website, www.tocker.org.
