The OrganWise Guys™

Puppets Deliver Bite-Sized Lessons About Health & Nutrition

(Boston, MA) In a time when childhood obesity plagues the nation, messages about leading a healthy lifestyle and accepting personal responsibility take on a greater significance. Teaching children about health and wellness is imperative — but it also has to be imaginative and fun.

Enter The OrganWise Guys™,a new series of interstitials geared to pre-school and school-aged children that delivers empowering, science-based messages about nutrition, physical activity, character and life skills. Seventy charming vignettes — available in 30 and 60 second lengths — educate and entertain with energy, humor, songs, silliness and adventure.

The OrganWise Guys™ programs have been fully evaluated and identified as a program “with the greatest potential to help reduce childhood obesity”

- The Cooper Institute

The fun band of puppets known as The OrganWise Guys™, cleverly personified as human body parts, embark on mini-adventures tailored to help children make healthy choices. The friendly and delightfully eccentric cast of characters includes: Hardy Heart, Sir Rebrum (the brain), Sid and Kid Kidney (The Kidney Brothers) and Peri Stolic (the large intestine). Also included in the stellar cast are their pals, Pepto (the stomach), Madame Muscle, Windy (the lungs) and Calci M. Bone.

With the merry band of OrganWise Guys™, children will soar into outer space with Captain Hardy Heart in search of calcium-rich food; jam with The Kidney Brothers as they rock out to a "wash your hands" song, and join the swashbuckling antics of the Pirates of the Carrot & Bean. Each episode features songs and music designed to inspire and teach children in constructive, memorable ways.

These stories and dozens of others deliver exciting and educational lessons while conveying important messages about healthy habits, healthy eating, and healthy living. Topics include: nutrition, exercise, cleanliness and the importance of eating breakfast as well as age-appropriate concerns like friendship, honesty and valuing differences.

THE ORGANWISE GUYS™ /2 PRESS RELEASE

Baylor College of Medicine evaluated the impact of the interstitials on an ethnically and economically diverse student population of children four to 12 years old. “Overall, they were well accepted” and “teachers unanimously agreed that it is easy to incorporate the interstitials into their everyday classroom lessons.” “They also would highly recommend the interstitials to be used by other teachers.” “Specifically, these interstitials may bolster obesity prevention efforts when used in conjunction with a health class.”

“Overall, (the interstitials were) entertaining yet still knowledge driven and appropriate for the preschool and early elementary population. (They have) great diversity and thus would appeal to children from various backgrounds.”

– Dr. Ruby Natale, Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, University of Miami School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Early Childhood Education

The series will help kids — and their caregivers, parents and teachers — take the message of The OrganWise Guys'™motto to heart: "We love who we live in, so please take care of us!
