Title:Senior Charity Shop Assistant

Supported by:Shop Manager/Assistant Manager

Main purpose:To support the shop manager/assistant manager to provide good customer service, including supervising sorting and preparing donations, managing transactions appropriately and supervising a team of volunteers and individuals on placements.

Overview of the role and why we need you

We are looking for volunteers to assist the shop managers to run the shop effectively

and to maximise its income. Volunteers will work with the managers to ensure the till is

managed effectively, train other volunteers and check petty cash receipts. Volunteers

may also be responsible for opening and closing the shop. All money raised from

sales is used to support older people living in Brent.

Responsibilities

  • Provide good customer service.
  • Sorting and preparing donations.
  • Use a till (after probationary period).
  • Display items in a safe and attractive manner.
  • Supervise volunteer during shop managers absence
  • Opening and/or closing the store as and when needed.

Skills

  • A good standard of verbal and written English.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Experience of shop dressing (training can be given)
  • Using an electronic till. (training will be given)
  • Experience of managing people (desirable)
  • Be able to stand for long periods of time

Qualities

  • Be flexible in your approach to work as this role can be quite varied.
  • The ability to work with a range of people.
  • Motivated and take responsibility for your own work whilst working under AUKB’s ethos.
  • Be reliable and committed.
