SUMMARY:

TheRetail Managerwill oversee the daily operations of the Smuttynose Retail Store and work closely with functions/tour and hospitality staff to assure continuous, outstanding customer experience. The Retail Manager will manage all retail staff including two supervisory staff members (one retail supervisor; one tour supervisor) in meeting and fulfilling customer service expectations and sale goals. S/he will also be responsible for purchasing of merchandise and inventory at both Smuttynose and Portsmouth Brewery Retail Stores. Other responsibilities will include managing the E-Store, wholesale merchandise and visual merchandising. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years successful retail management experience that includes supervisory responsibilities and experience purchasing merchandise and inventory control. S/he possesses experience implementing best practices, how to grow a brand and create a memorable, fun experience for our customers. Must have flexible schedule; willing to work all shifts: days, nights, weekdays and weekends as needed

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·  Develop business strategies to raise customer awareness, expand store traffic and optimize profitability

·  Meet sales goals by training, motivating, mentoring and providing feedback to sales staff

·  Purchase merchandise and beer; keep timely and accurate inventory count for both stores; keep abreast of market trends to determine the need for improvements in the store

·  Schedule retail and tour staff ensuring store is sufficiently staffed at all times.

·  Cash and sales reconciliation: supervise and accurately handle payment management including cash, credit cards and travelers’ checks

·  Work closely with Events & Functions Coordinator, Tour Supervisor and hospitality staff to ensure smooth operations and coordination among all customer service departments

·  Ensure e-store is maintained; including site updates and improvements, processing and shipping orders

·  Plan and oversee in-store promotional events or displays

·  Analyze sales and revenue reports and make forecasts; prepare and control the store’s budget aiming for minimum expenditure and efficiency; report on buying trends, customer needs and profits

·  Complete store administration and ensure compliance with policies and procedures

·  Ensure the store fulfils all legal, health and safety guidelines

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

·  At least 5 years proven experience as retail manager and knowledge of retail management best practices

·  Must be highly reliable and responsible and possess outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities

·  Excellent organizing and leadership skills

·  Commercial awareness

·  Solid business acumen and computer skills

·  Interest in craft brews; drive and willingness to gain comprehensive knowledge of Smuttynose beers

·  Must have flexible schedule
