Summary of role / Oxfam’s Fundraising Groups are teams of volunteers who work together to raise vital funds for Oxfam’s work to alleviate poverty and suffering worldwide.
The group’s fundraising activities can be anything and everything – from frog races to gala dinners, boat trips to music events. There are roles to suit everyone – like putting up posters, speaking to your local newspaper, managing event logistics, and using social media to get the group’s word out – all we ask for is lots of enthusiasm!
Finally, the Oxfam regional team will be on hand to offer help and advice every step of the way.
What work will I be doing as a group member?
· You will have a vital role in raising funds to support the work of Oxfam in alleviating poverty and suffering worldwide – importantly whilst having fun!
· Developing the fundraising group and planning your calendar of events.
· Organising and promoting fundraising events and collections with other group members. There will be a role that fits your skills and experiences, and the choice is up to you!
· Encourage people within your local community to support Oxfam and your group.
· Attend regular evening meetings with your group (monthly).
What experience or skills will I need to do this volunteer role?
Lots and lots of enthusiasm! Good interpersonal skills and a willingness to ask people to get involved are important too.
