Location: Applecroft, Barleyfields and Tenterfield Children’s centres

Grade: H1 - H2

1 JOB OUTLINE

1a) REASON JOB EXISTS

  • To support delivery of a wide range of services to improve the life chances of children aged 0 to 5 in the Welwyn and Knebworth community

1b) DUTIES

  • Be aware of the centre development plan and support achievement of this as directed by the Group Manager
  • Support the Play work team to plan, deliver and evaluate relevant services to meet the needs of the local community
  • Ensure that services have particular emphasis on the needs of the most vulnerable groups in order to reduce inequality gaps
  • Support the service delivery lead in maintaining learning journals and evidence of the effectiveness of services
  • Ensure any concerns or identified additional needs for services are passed on to the appropriate member of staff or service
  • Develop and promote community involvement and ensure that parents, carers and children are able to contribute to the development of services.
  • Ensure all staff, parents and children are kept safe through implementation of regularly reviewed safeguarding policies and procedures which meet HSCB and national guidance and legislation
  • Encourage the development of volunteers and students in sessions following appropriate induction and recruitment
  • To carry out any other duties as required to ensure the success of the Children’s Centre Group.

1e) DISCLOSURE AND BARRING SERVICE

  • This post is classed as having a high degree of contact with children or vulnerable adults and is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. An enhanced disclosure will be sought through the DBS as part of Hertfordshire County Council’s pre-employment checks. 1f) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • The post offered is 52 weeks per year, 15 hours per week and leave is subject to local government conditions of service.
  • Flexibility in the hours of work, including some evening and weekends, will be necessary in order to meet the needs of the service.
  • A full current driving license must be held and regular access to car
  • The post holder will be expected to accept any reasonable alterations that may from time to time be necessary.

2 SUPERVISION

The post holder will report to the Group Manager through the service delivery leader

3 JOB CONTEXT

The post holder must be innovative and enterprising in creating, maintaining and developing links with a wide variety of service providers in the statutory, voluntary and commercial sectors. Ongoing analysis of the needs within each local community’s needs supports the development of services provided directly or jointly provided or commissioned from external providers. The location of services will be appropriate to the needs of the community
