JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Line Operator REPORTS TO: Group Leader
DEPT.: Prep/Through Hole Assembly JOB STATUS: Non-Exempt, Range 1
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To prepare electronic components using various forming and trimming machines. Then inserting these components by hand into printed circuit boards in a timely manner ensuring quality according to customer specifications.
Essential JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Must read and understand blueprints, bill of materials, rework instructions and other related documents. Follow internal assembly processes as well as those provided by customer requirements.
· Must be able to learn to read required measurements and basic component values.
· Operate various forming and trimming machines to prepare electronic components for assembly operations according to customer specifications.
· Perform daily, weekly or monthly maintenance as needed on the department machines.
· Perform some mechanical assembly using various hand tools, according to customer specifications.
· Hand insert loose components into the circuit boards according to customer-supplied paperwork, processes and internal processes.
· Correct any errors on assemblies rejected during in-process inspections to ensure customer specifications.
· Recording of required information on internal forms and customer forms.
· Maintain daily times worked on specific jobs by scanning in/out of computer system or by keeping daily timesheets when requested.
· Contribute to maintaining a safe work environment by following safety policies and procedures. Also reporting any safety concerns and participate in the scheduled stretch breaks to ensure a safe work environment.
· Accountable for accepting responsibility for quality aspects of the job by actively participating in quality efforts that support Altron Inc.'s quality policy.
· Responsible for compliance to Altron’s Quality Management System and other regulatory and statutory requirements as required by the customer.
· Authority to stop production when nonconformances are found.
· Accountable for accepting responsibility for continuous on the job training by actively participating in training put on by designated Altron employees and/or any outside service.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
· Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
· Experience: Basic mathematics required. Electronic assembly and mechanical skills helpful.
· Mental Demands: Will read blueprints, bill of materials, procedures and other related documents. Involves some verbal and/or written communication.
· Physical Demands: regularly required to sit and/or stand while performing various manual dexterity tasks for up to 8 hours per day. Will regularly lift, push and pull 10 to 25 pounds and occasionally 30 to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
· Equipment Used: Basic hand tools, battery and pneumatic drivers, glue dispensers, conveyor line, computer, press, dremel and component forming and trimming machines.
