Title: Holiday Manager

Position Summary

Efficiently and effectively manage the commercial holiday department. Responsibilities include design, quality control, complete production planning and implementation, marketing, recruiting and training of personnel. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Department Management, Design, Production, Inventory, Personnel, Sales & Marketing

Department Management

  • Work closely with Controller and Vice President to establish annual budget for all holiday department costs, including labor, materials, equipment, etc.
  • Manage department to meet/beat Budgeted Goals
  • Develop and maintain, with VP, annual 12-month Action Plan for entire company as it relates to our holiday business

Design

  • Ability to source materials for custom work
  • Research and attend industry trade shows to find new ideas and trends, purchasing opportunities
  • Create and/or modify holiday design themes, within budget
  • Keep the product line current with or ahead of contemporary design and color trends
  • Work with sales team and customers on custom requests and designs
  • Maintain and update holiday showroom

Production

  • Schedule pre-holiday production for refurbishing existing stored materials, based on sales and existing leases
  • Maintain responsibility for warehouse locator system for all leased materials
  • Motivate, train and direct individuals performing entry-level Holiday production
  • Establish and maintain a labeling system for all finished goods
  • Create advance production plan to meet holiday schedule timeline, while

maintaining cost efficiencies

  • Maintain holiday production area to maximize productivity and ensure a clean and safe work environment
  • Ensure consistency of design quality with established company standards throughout production and installation

Inventory

  • Know at all times the status of unsold inventory
  • Project inventory needs based on projected sales
  • Establish and maintain production inventory to meet holiday orders, based

on projected sales and existing leases

  • After installations are completed, inventory all unused materials
  • After take-downs are completed, inventory all returned materialsand determine refurbishment needs
  • Receive materials, control inventory and product needs
  • Ensure adequate raw materials, or acceptable substitutions, are available,

on time and within budget

  • Coordinate purchasing needs with current Holiday Coordinator and Purchasing Department, while maintaining cost-effectiveness

Personnel

  • Work closely with Human Resources department to ensure complete holiday temp staffing needs are met
  • Establish training program for holiday temp employees and execute in timely manner to ensure all employees have complete understanding of company and position standards and expectations
  • Provide Installations Department with complete labor hours necessary to effectively and efficiently install all holiday projects.

Sales & Marketing

  • Create and/or modify holiday marketing and sales material
  • Provide sales team with product samples and sales & marketing materials

of holiday themes for customer presentations

  • Create and maintain holiday price lists
  • Provide accurate pricing for all custom holiday projects
  • Prepare and execute annual holiday kick-off meeting
  • Accompany salespeople on presentations and site visits as appropriate

  • Strong people skills, working with employees, customers and vendors
  • Ability to train and motivate staff
