Duration: 2:06minutes

Description:

A videoexplaining what Octane is.

Shell Go Well – OCTANE– Transcript

[Background music plays]

Upbeat, fun background music; the same music continues throughout the video.

[Visual transition/change]

The filmstarts with crew cheering the arrival of the presenters, a young woman named Fleur and man named Smithy, they are personal trainers. The two presenters are wearing sports wear. The scene is the studio set, with filming equipment and crew present. The titles “Everyday Experts Presents” appears on screen, as the presenters make their way through the set.

EVERYDAY EXPERTS PRESENTS

[Presenter: Fleur]

Hellooo

[Presenter: Smithy]

Hello, Hello …you alright?

[Visual transition/change]

The two presenters walk through the set greeting the crew, and checking out the studio set up.

[Presenter: Fleur]

Oh my gosh! It’s so official

[Presenter: Smithy]

Yeah, it does look very professionaldon’t it?

[Visual transition/change]

Scene changes to the two presenters exercising in front of a white background.

[Presenter: Fleur]

Hi I’m Fleur…

[Presenter: Smithy]

…and I’m Smithy

[Visual transition/change]

Titles appears next to the presenters, who are standing together, holding a bottle of water each.

EXPLAINED BY PERSONAL TRAINERS

[Visual transition/change]

Scene cut to both presenters standing on a set made up to look like a science lab. There is a periodic table in the background, and vials and beakers with colourful liquids on the counter tops with a microscope. Our two personal trainers are standing by the counter.

[Presenter: Fleur]

Today we’re going to explain to you everything about Octane.

[Visual transition/change]

Scene cuts to Smithy standing alone against a white studio background, he is holding a red board with white text reading “HOW DOES OCTANE WORK IN AN ENGINE?” on it.

“HOW DOES OCTANE WORK IN AN ENGINE?”

[Presenter: Fleur]

Petrol engines work in a cycle of four stages:

Suck

Squeeze

Bang

Blow

[Presenter: Smithy]

Octane is mainly effective in the compression or squeeze phase, helping the fuel to burn evenly at the right time.

[Visual transition/change]

Scene cuts to Smithy standing alone against a white studio background, he is holding a red board with white text “WHAT IS OCTANE?” on it.

“WHAT IS OCTANE?”

[Presenter: Fleur]

Octane is an attribute all petrol fuels have, measured by a Research Octane Number or RON…

[Visual transition/change]

Scene cuts to Smithy on a white set with a white board. The white board has the word RON written in large letters. Smithy points to the word with his pointer.

[Visual transition/change]

Scene cuts to Fleur and Smithy in a plain white set; Fleur in the foreground explaining RON, Smithy can be seen in the background lifting weights.

[Presenter: Fleur]

RON tells us how well a fuel copes with increased compression…

[Visual transition/change]

Twocrewmembers dressed in black enter the scene carrying weights, which they then proceed to add to the weights that Smithy is lifting in the background.

[Presenter: Fleur]

When the fuel is mix with air inside an engine while maintaining the necessary controlled combustion.

[Visual transition/change]

The scene cuts back to the two presenters back in the lab set.

[Presenter: Smithy]

A higher RON indicates a higher quality

[Presenter: Fleur]

uh-huh

[Visual transition/change]

Scene cuts to Smithy standing alone against a white studio background, he is holding a red board with white text reading “HOW DOES OCTANE AFFECT MY ENGINE?” on it.

[Visual transition/change]

The scene cuts back to the two presenters back in the lab set.

[Presenter: Smithy]

Lower octane fuels can result in a spontaneous ignition of fuel-air mix called “engine knock”

[Presenter: Fleur]

Higher octane allows the engine to work at a more optimal level

[Presenter: Smithy]

New Shell V-Power petrol in a 99 RON octane fuel, by comparison, normal shell petrol is 95 RON.

[Visual transition/change]

Scene cuts to Smithy on a white set with a white board. The white board has two illustrations with the words 99 RON and 95 RON written in large letters with a box around them. Smithy points to the words with his pointer.

[Visual transition/change]

Scene cuts to Smithy standing alone against a white studio background, he is holding a red board with white text reading “CAN ENGINE KNOCK DAMAGE MY CAR?” on it.

[Text]

“CAN ENGINE KNOCK DAMAGE MY CAR?”

[Visual transition/change]

The scene cuts back to the two presenters back in the lab set.

[Presenter: Fleur]

In older cars …

[Visual transition/change]

Fleur jokingly points to Smithy standing beside her

[Presenter: Fleur]

…Engine knock can cause damage

[Presenter: Smithy]

Sorry, I just saw what she did there

[Both presenters laugh]

[Visual transition/change]

Scene cuts to Smithy standing alone against a white studio background, he is holding a red board with white text reading “IN SUMMAY…” on it.

[Text]

“IN SUMMAY…”

[Visual transition/change]

Scene cuts to both presenters standing against a white background.

[Presenter: Fleur]

So to sum up, Octane is a measure of petrol fuels resistance to engine knock

[Visual transition/change]

Scene cuts to both presenters in an acrobatic pose, with Fleur doing a push up pose on top of Smithy, who is also doing a push up pose in the opposite direction on the floor.

[Both Presenters]

Go Well!

[Laughter]
