JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE’S PARTICIPATION WORKER (CYP-IAPT)

Hours: 15 per week -Fixed Term to 31st March 2019 (with the possibility of an extension)

Salary range: £20,143 pro rata plus benefits

Office base: Hereford, with the ability to travel throughout the county.

Scope: Herefordshire Children and Young People’s Improving Access to

Psychological Therapiesprogramme (CYP-IAPT) aims to transform children

and young people’s mental health services.

A local partnership made up of Young People’s Well-being Ambassadors,

2gether Trust,Herefordshire Clinical Commissioning Group, Herefordshire

Local Authority and The CLD Trust has been established to deliver on the key

CYP-IAPT principles of improving access, the use of routine outcome

monitoring, developing innovative use of IT, participation and self-referrals.

The post holder will be required to deliver the participation agenda for the

partnership.

Duties

  • To facilitate and lead the programme of Well-being Ambassadors meetings.
  • Develop a range of participation practice to secure young people’s views.
  • Organise and deliver development workshops on a range of topics to enable children and young people’s ideas to be articulated.
  • Recruit and train young people to act as Well-being Ambassadors.
  • Recruit and train young people in recruitment and selection processes.
  • Facilitate and enable participation of Well-being Ambassadorpanels in partner organisations’ recruitment and selection processes (2g and The CLD Trust).
  • Plan and undertake participation activities at sites agreed with the Steering Group.
  • Plan and deliver appropriate participation activities with parents and children within services and at sites as agreed with the Steering Group.
  • Prepare newsletters and reports of participation events, achievements and plans as required.
  • Contribute to the development of social media and other participation forums as agreed with the CYP-IAPT Steering Group.
  • Maintain social media accounts as agreed.
  • Facilitate the reimbursement of children and young people’s expenses where appropriate and in line with policy and practice.
  • Support Well-being Ambassadors to attend regional and national participation events and take part in local campaigns.
  • With the guidance of People Support and Participation Manager enable children and young people well-being ambassadors to establish local campaigns and projects to further children and young people’s participation and the delivery of their planned programme.
  • Promote the voices of children, young people and parents across Herefordshire.
  • Work with colleagues and partner agencies to promote children and young people’s participation.
  • Deliver presentations and talks as required.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other participation workers within the county and beyond.
  • Keep appropriate records and information on children and young people’s participation and ensure that consent and Health and Safety requirements are met in line with policy and procedures.
  • Deliver formal accreditation of training and ensure maintenance and monitoring of records of progress and achievement.
  • Lead on setting up and maintenance of agreed accreditation including negotiation and registration with awarding bodies.
  • Undertake evening and weekend work on occasion when necessary.
