PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Oversees building operations at the Adams Club with the primary focus for quality program and service delivery, supervision and training of staff, facilities, community relations, USD 501 relations and membership growth & retention. Provides leadership to assure the Optimal Club Experience is achieved for Club members, and that a strong, effective program team provides impactful programs in a safe environment. This position must meet or exceed specific goals for the Club while working within a specific budget.

Leadership

  1. Establishes and oversees programs,activities and services that prepare youth for success and that create a Club environment that facilitates achievement of 1) Positive Self Identity 2) Health & Well-being 3) Positive Values 4) Commitment to Learning 5) Social Competency & 6) Community & Civic Involvement and is built on the 5 Key Elements for Positive Youth Development
  2. Ensure Core Programoperations are the foundation of the Club experience and activities include 1) Character & Leadership Development 2) Education & Career Development 3) Health & Life Skills 4) The Arts & 5) Sports, Fitness & Recreation
  3. Inspires, develops and invests in a team that is unified, whose skills complement each other and share a vision to achieve the Optimal Club Experience for every child that enters the blue doors
  4. Recruits, develops and maintains a strong service delivery team that works cohesively together to provide the Optimal Club Experience
  5. Manages performance of direct reports by participating in performance reviews.
  6. Creates strategies with vigilance for safety and stays involved with all safety matters.
  7. Prepares required interagency reports (Annual Report, various grant report details/logistics, NYOI, YOY, Performance Evaluations/Reviews, Annual Online Safety Assessments, etc.)
  8. Utilizes and institutes a rapid & continuous cycle of improvement
  9. Serves as the onsite compliance expert to ensure all employees, volunteers, and other individuals follow Club protocol and organization procedures.
  10. Manage all facilities related duties/departments (Food Service, Transportation, & janitorial/environmental services).

Strategic Planning

  1. Plan, develop, implement and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure they meet stated objectives and member needs and interests.
  2. Work in collaboration with Program Leadership Team to plan and implement successful and meaningful programs that are based on BGCA Core Programs and that achieve Youth Development Outcomes
  3. Address needed areas identified through the National Youth Outcomes Initiative to strive for growth and continuous quality improvement and to achieve the Optimal Club Experience
  4. Work in collaboration with Club Leadership Team regarding expansion and growth initiatives to meet the needs of youth in our community who need us most
  5. Provide staff development in social emotional learning programming practices and ensure that practices are prioritized in all aspects of club operations.
  6. Participate in at least quarterly reviews of club data and performance and work with program management team to identity opportunities for improvement, if needed.

Resource Management

  1. Manage Adams Club financial resources assisting in the development of annual budget & control expenditures against budget.
  2. Ensure compliance with BGCT policies & procedures
  3. Recruit, manage and provide career development opportunitiesAdams Club staff and volunteers.
  4. Ensure effective means of communication and contact exists for Adams Club staff
  5. Establish efficiencies to ensure all operations are effectively using resources and remaining in budget.
  6. Support management of maintenance and repair of Adams Club, and its equipment.
  7. Provides technical assistance in program design.

Partnership Development

  1. Cultivate relationships with parents, USD 501 personnel, community leaders & organizations
  2. Ensure licensing guidelines are achieved and maintained

Marketing & Public Relations

  1. Ensure marketing materials are available and accurately reflects/informs others
  2. Routinely evaluate content of BGCT website and Facebook page to highlight areas of interest regarding Adams Clubactivities, outcomes & celebrations
  3. Being an active and visible partner in USD 501 events and activities
  4. Represent self as a positive, professional and responsive representative of BGCT
  5. Support the brand standards and style guide expectations for BGC

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Approve purchases of needed supplies and equipment within the scope of the budget
  2. Work with staff on special events to carry out programs in all departments
  3. Exercise authority in problems relating to members; utilize guidance & discipline plan
  4. Monitor and approve all time keeping records for direct reports for bi-monthly payroll
  5. Collaborate in the hiring of direct reports.
  6. Utilize effective communication skills and professional standards of conflict resolution should a conflict arise
  7. Other duties as assigned by supervisor or executive staff

RELATIONSHIPS

Internal: Works to guide and develop Adams Club Youth Development Team in the provision of quality and effective programs and experiences for members of the Adams Clubas well as to work effectively as a team to achieve successful Youth Development Outcomes. Maintains close, daily contact with Club professional staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, problem solve issues, and provide/receive information. Works closely with Director of Program Development to assure BGCA Core programs and Youth Development Outcomes are the foundation and framework of Extension and program site experiences. Has regular contact with members as needed to discipline, advice, guide and counsel

External: Maintains contact with USD 501administrative staff and school personnel, community groups, member’s parents and others to assist in resolving problems and to enhance/increase awareness of BGCT Adams Club opportunities. Takes the lead in developing and cultivating partnerships within community organizations and regional school systems to advance the programs at the Adams Club. Demonstrate a knowledge of, interest in, and respect for the community the Club serves.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Four year degree from an accredited college or university, business or technical school education (Bachelor’s degree) or the equivalent of such
  • A minimum of 2 years work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning & supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young children, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated Ability in personnel supervision, facilities management, And the recruitment & retention of key personnel
  • Strong communication skills, both oral & written
  • Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate staff
  • Ability to deal effectively with conflict and discipline problems
  • Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management
  • Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents and community leaders
  • Demonstrates excellent teamwork skills and working together to achieve successful outcomes
  • Considerable knowledge of: the mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs
  • Demonstrates independent work skills to guide effective decision making and positive results for BGCT
  • Mandatory CPR & First Aid Certifications
  • Acceptable KS MVR (meets BGCT insurance standards)
