Tips for Protocols

Tips for Protocols

1.  Use the term student instead of patient or child. For the pronoun=use him or he (no her, she, or he/she).

2.  Use reference materials that have been published since 2000, unless the resource is the most recent edition of an institutional publication i.e. Taber’s Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary, Edition ….; Webster’s Dictionary; latest first aide manual; etc…

3.  Cite your bibliography at the end of each protocol or at the end of each section of a protocol with multiple divisions or subsections.

4.  Refer to reference handout for formatting of citations.

5.  Use the following headings for protocols (left aligned, with numbered subdivisions under these and do not use all caps for headings; capitalize first letter only—see example protocol).
