Sotto Sopra

405 N. Charles Street

Baltimore, MD

410-625-0534

One of my favorites! The décor is beautiful; you feel as though you are in Italy, and the Italian cuisine is fixed with the utmost of care. The wait staff is very friendly, and there are always a few “specials” if you want something a little unusual. Their signature drink is the Sotto Sopra, and it is a rum drink that is very popular. The menu is a la carte, and there are some interesting salads and sides. The veal and ravioli entrees happen to be my faves. They are open for lunch and dinner with the same menu for each.

Tio Pepe Restaurant Baltimore

10 Franklin Street

Baltimore

410-539-4675

For Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine, this is my favorite. We have been going there for about 40 years and have never had a bad meal. It is busy, loud and so much fun! Also, the food is to die for. It is traditional to have the sangria (made there and available in white or red). It comes in a Spanish pitcher you can purchase for your home. We received one as a gift, and it has followed us house to house always bringing a smile to our face when we use it. If you like sole, I highly recommend the Banana Sole (melts in your mouth) and the Pine Nut Cake for dessert. Paella and gazpacho are also highly rated.

The Prime Rib Steakhouse

1101 N. Calvert Street

Baltimore

410-539-1804

There are three of these-one in Baltimore, one in DC and one in Philadelphia, so you may have eaten at one before. The one in Baltimore is the only one I have experience with, and I cannot say enough about it. It is elegant, open only for dinner, and has live music. All three of the restaurants have been rated #1 by Zagat for their steaks. The crab cakesare also delicious, but the signature prime rib is their signature dish. Everything is a la carte, and the menu has varied choices. Many people dine there for special occasions, and isn’t attending CLD in Baltimore a special occasion?

la Scala

Little Italy

1012 Eastern Avenue

Baltimore, MD 21202

410-783-9209

My pick in Little Italy! Wonderful fresh, home- made pasta and excellent seafood awaits you at la Scala. Consistent high ratings and awards are earned by this restaurant because they attend to everything and make it seem like a special occasion every time you eat there. Their Bronzini, also known as European sea bass is fileted at your table and makes for a very special culinary experience. They have great cannolis all made daily. After dinner, play a game of bocce ball on their indoor court.
