Timing Advance Kit for ZXI1100-900/STX1100/sx750/SXR800/sxi750/
Congratulations! you have just purchased the best Advance Kit on the market. These kits have been thoroughly tested and designed to give you flawless results. When installed properly you will notice a dramatic increase in overall performance.
Important: Before installation you must disconnect the air temperature sensor that is glued to the hull over the battery on 1100’s/800sxr and leave disconnected! Or you will be advancing timing 10-11deg.
Note: It is recommended that you have the service manual for your craft during the installation procedure.
Note: This will affect the kats trim system on the ZXI.
Introduction:
By installing the advance kit, your timing is advanced 7 degrees from the factory set timing. You must make the necessary carb adjustments.
Installation:
Step 1 Remove the oil injector pump from cover 9If still being used). Do not remove any of the oil pump lines!
Step 2 Remove the seven 10 mm bolts and front cover. BE CAREFUL not to lose the bendix gear shim and spring. The shim can remain on the bindix shaft and the spring should remain in the front cover shaft bore. Clean the o-ring and set-aside for now.
Step 3 Remove the two Phillips screws that secure the trigger module and the screws. The module is about one inch square, black in color.
Step 4Take out your trusty file and carefully remove a 1/8-inch wide strip of material from the upper corner of module. NOTE: file only the corner closest to the upper edge of front cover. And file off the locating pins on bottom, so it is flat.
Step 5 Install your Advance plate. Apply loctite to the flat-head screws. Align the trigger module and be sure the module corner doesn’t hit the cover. If it doesn’t clear, file a little more, until it properly clears. Secure the module with the rounded screws/washers. Don’t forget the loctite.
Step 6 Be sure the cover is clean and apply a thin film of grease into the o-ring groove, install the o-ring and secure the front cover. Re-install oil pump, be sure pump is fully meshed into drive slot. It may be necessary to slightly reach at the rear of the crankshaft coupler and manually turn the engine if the pump drive falls into alignment.
Step 7 Recommended carb settings
750 SX/SS/ST High Speed (upper) 1Turn
Xi Low speed (lower) 1 Turn
1100/900 Zxi/Stx Lower pop off to 20lbs
High ¾ Low ¾
CV carbs 1100/900 zxi/stx 1998-03 Go up 10 points on low speed jet.
