SENIOR ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP

Qualifications to be considered for the $1000 scholarship:

ALL INFORMATION MUST BE SENT IN ITSENTIRETY TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE AWARD(S).

1.Must be a senior or enrolled in a four-year high school or high school program, moving on to under graduate, apprentice, or work training program that can be verified.

2.Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.

3.Students must have verification of their grade point average from their high school registrar. A transcript must have official school seal. Should your institution only mail official transcripts, please have the transcript mailed directly to the committee. You must enclose an unofficial transcript in packet information.

4.A note or letter must be sent from your team coach of the riding team to verify that they have been on the team for the entire year.

5.Submit two written letters of recommendation stating why you should win.

6.Be able to describe the following: What “qualities” did you learn from the Youth Equestrian Development Association competitions that have benefited you in your academic years and will benefit you in your future? Applicant must have one or more of the following types of media completed to be considered for this scholarship. A combination of media will be weighted highly favorable to the applicant.

  • Write a 500 word essay completed in professional word document.
  • Use a Power Point or similar media to express your thoughts.
  • Use a blog style website to express your YEDA season and the qualities you have learned.
  • Use a video monologue to express your thoughts.
  • Sharing of any of the above on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) and linking to the YEDA social media accounts.

7.Applicants must send all supporting material in one packet with a CD or thumb drive to be considered complete. If the following is not received in your packet, your application will be considered incomplete!

  • Official Transcript
  • Verification letter from team coach or team advisor
  • Summer mailing address
  • Electronic Media in the form of CD or Thumb Drive

8.All completed packages must be postmarked and submitted to the Senior Achievement Awards Committee on or before April 15, 2018.

9.The Senior Achievement Award Committee will submit all the names to the National Horse Show Organizer prior to Nationals, 2018.

10.The finalists and the scholarship award winner will be announced and presented at the National Championship Show. The winner will receive their award and a certificate in recognition of their outstanding achievement.

11.Agree to in writing that should your essay and media presentation win, you will allow to be shared for publication.
