1.Duty of Care & Child Protection

1.1 Access to first aid equipment is available at all coaching sessions & matches:

•The Club has a specialist first aid kit designed around potential cricket injuries, based on a worst case scenario of 20 people, kept in the clubhouse and accessible at all home practice sessions and matches.

•2 more compact kits, based on 10 people, are available at all junior away games. The Great Kingshill CC Juniors Match Checklist has a reminder to take a first aid kit to all away games.

•Each kit is supplemented by ice packs, resuscitation masks and eye wash equipment.

•The Club child welfare officer has the responsibility to monitor the first aid kits and the completed contents control forms, throughout the season, and restock as necessary.

1.2 The Club has the correct details of parents / carers and emergency/ alternative contacts for all its children and young people:

•The Junior Club Membership Formhas been in use since
2004, and asks for two emergency contact numbers. The form also informs that all reasonable steps will be taken to contact. parents/carers in the event of illness or injury and to deal with the incident appropriately.

•The Child Welfare Officer will monitor and, if necessary, take further steps to ensure the Club has all essential information in its possession. This includes an annual review of the Membership Form.

Lists of those with medical conditions, and all emergency contacts from this database, are updated and issued regularly to coaches and team managers – note confidentiality demands the removal of some data).

•The Great Kingshill CC Juniors Match Checklist reminds the coach/manager of the need to ensure the list is immediately to hand.

1.3 The club has information on any young people that have a medical condition, which might be aggravated by participation in cricket. It also has systems working to pass this on to relevant coach(es):

•The Junior Club Membership Form requests information on disability and any conditions and medications of which Club officials should be aware.

and will request further information where appropriate

The clubhouse does not have an available landline and there are no plans for installation. There is a good quality mobile signal around the ground. The list of coaches, includes mobile contact numbers and numbers are also included in the Club Fixture card. This is considered more relevant than a static line which, during a match or practice, may be unattended.

  • Indoor junior coaching is held at The Royal Grammar and HolmerGreenSchools. Coaches are required to carry mobiles throughout the sessions.
  • For all locations it can reasonably be assumed that coaches, team managers, parents and the juniors themselves will between them have access to a number of mobile phones
  • The Club Welfare Officer`s number is listed in the Club Fixture Card.
