Tim Beveridge, Singer

"… If, as William Shakespeare says, music is the food of love then Tim Beveridge… definitely qualified as a deep-dish apple pie (sometimes spicy, often comfortingly familiar, always satisfying)." BOP Times

"Tim Beveridge is a pretty average looking guy, but wow can he sing"

Tim Beveridge’s career has progressed in leaps and bounds since he abandoned his life as a lawyer 13 years ago. Starting in musical theatre, he sang Phantom of the Opera at the tender age of 29, then appeared on the world stage by winning a place in the final of the world's most prestigious musical theatre competition, the BBC Voice of Musical Theatre in the UK in both 2000 and 2002 -- the only person ever to appear in the finals two years running. His first CD, "Singer" with the NZSO, went "gold" within 4 weeks of release.

In 2002 he collaborated with legendary arranger Russ Garcia (arranger to Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Count Basie, et al) on a big band recording that culminated in the release of Tim's second CD, "Come Rain, Come Shine" on the Sony/BMG label just last year. The album, featuring the Buddy Childer's Big Band and conducted by Russ Garcia, was recorded in Hollywood. It's been endorsed far and wide, and by such luminaries as Burt-Bacharach-lyricist Hal David, Australia's Alan Jones, and New Zealand icon Ray Columbus, OBE.

Tim has sung with such well known New Zealand stars as Sir Howard Morrison, Dame Malvina Major, Frankie Stevens, and Hayley Westenra. He's sung in every major venue in New Zealand, at the Sydney Opera House and Melbourne Concert Hall. His sold-out summer 2005 appearance at the Hamilton Gardens Festival ranked No. 1 of the event's 35 acts, and he has conceived, produced, directed and starred in the massive Rotorua Lakeside Festival over the course of the past ten years.

Other career highlights include having performed 6 national anthems for the All Blacks (for 6 wins – although he claims no credit…) including the prestigious final Lions/All Blacks test match at Eden Park and more recently the final of the Bledisloe Cup as well as being featured in a documentary on “the anthem singer” on Sky Sport’s “Rugby Focus”.

Tim has also produced the Tim Beveridge Ultimate Vegas Experience that IBM used for their APRe conference in Christchurch last May (2200 attendees from 17 countries), and which was rated the most successful evening of entertainment in 25 years of IBM's recognition events.

Most recently Tim promoted, produced and starred in two hugely successful concerts – Fly Me to the Moon - with his own 17 piece Neophonic Jazz Orchestra in both Christchurch and Auckland. The latter was conducted by Russ Garcia himself and was recorded for a “live” album for release soon. Plans are also afoot for further performances with the Neophonic in 2008.
