Choose 3 activities from the boxes below in a tic-tac-toe design, either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally (only top left to bottom right if diagonally). EACH ACTIVITY MUST BE OF A DIFFERENT TYPE! The due date for each activity will be announced in class. Attached you will find rubrics for each task.

COMPREHENSION
Complete a time line that shows the development of the novel. Be sure to select 10 events that demonstrate moments where we see the story and characters growing and react to the growth. For each entry, you must write 3-5 sentences that explain the role this scene plays in the development, in other words, justify why you selected this scene of all others. / SYNTHESIS
Complete a comparison matrix using at least 2 characters, each from a different book, as well as yourself and at least 3 characteristics, covering various traits, such as background, physical appearance, emotions, thoughts, relationships or ambitions. / ANALYSIS
Write a one-page analysis of what makes the setting so crucial to the plot, characters, or theme.
SYNTHESIS
Describe the ramifications of the following “what if” situation: what if the character lived in the 21st century? How would the story be different? A one-page minimum is required. / ANALYSIS
Create a three-dimensional piece of artwork that exhibits the relationship between the protagonist and a minor character. A written explanation should accompany the piece. / COMPREHENSION
Identify five character/personality traits that make the protagonist stand out. Create a collage that shows these traits through vivid images. Collage must be accompanied with a written description.
ANALYSIS
Give a three to five minute presentation explaining how the material uses symbolism, irony, figurative language, or characterization to develop the theme. Presentation should be on the formal side, but appropriate for a high school classroom. / COMPREHENSION
Pick five literary devices that we have discussed in class. Find three examples of each in the novel and discuss in 5-7 sentences for each how effectively they are used in the novel. Following your descriptions, make an example of your own for each. / SYNTHESIS
Write a one-page journal, or diary, entry from the perspective of one of the characters.
