Thrill of speed at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi

GEZE provides barrier-free access comfort

The United Arab Emiratesisknown for its mind-blowing buildings - not least because of what is currently the tallest skyscraper in the world, the Burj Khalifa, which is 828 metres high. At the end of 2010, the construction of another impressive building was completed: Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. Constructed as one of the highlights of the new development of the 2,500 hectare YasIsland, located to the east of Abu DhabiCity and near to the airport, the themepark attracts guests from throughout the world. Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is the first Ferrari theme park and the largest indoor theme park in the world. With more than 20 rides and attractions related to Ferrari, the Park incorporates Ferrari design and technology, offering an engaging and interactive multisensory experience that truly brings the Ferrari story to life.

The architecturally extraordinary building that houses the theme park was designed by Benoy Architects. Inspired by the classic double curve side profile of the Ferrari GT body, the architectural firm had the idea of creating a building that reflects the shape of the Ferrari sport's car. Accordingly, an extended building, adapting to the landscape with its wavelike roof, appeared, covered by a huge, Ferrari-red flat roof. The roof structure of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi has a total area of 200,000 square metres and a diameter of over 700 metres. The Ferrari logo on the roof is the largest Ferrari logo yet at 65 metres. The total area of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is 86,000 square metres, and thus is equivalent to seven football pitches arranged in a line.

Barrier-free access comfort

Barrier-free is more and more standard in public buildings nowadays. So that even children and visitors with heavy loads or visitors with limited mobility can access Ferrari World Abu Dhabi as easily as possible, a sophisticated, automatic swing door with a GEZE Slimdrive EMD-F drive with "70 mm appearance" offers barrier-free access comfort. Slimdrive EMD drives were developed specifically for accessing swing doors if manual activation is too awkward or too difficult, or if someone wants to open the door with very little effort. Thanks to a height of only 70 mm and the guide rail technology, the Slimdrive EMD drives are particularly suitable for narrow door profiles and limited space. They fit discreetly into the extraordinary facade of the Ferrari World. The door opens automatically after activation by a movement detector or a button. The "push&go" function which can be switched on and off makes activation of the door drive possible by briefly touching the door leaf. The "servo-mode" also facilitates manual opening for the visitors of the theme park. The opening motor guarantees comfortable use of the door in both directions with only very little effort. Slimdrive EMD swing door systems provide maximum security and are tested according to DIN 18650. Furthermore, the EMD-F version is certified for smoke and fire doors.

42 Slimdrive EMD-F drives were installed in Ferrari World Abu Dhabi in total. In addition to the entrance door, the exits to various rides have been equipped with the drives and thus ensure barrier-freedom even for fun on the rides.
