“Under the Stars”

The 2014 Homecoming Dance will be held on Saturday, October 4thin the Main Gym. The Homecoming Dance is a formal event and formal attire should be worn. It is expected that everyone show good judgment in determining tasteful and appropriate dress. All students attending the dance, whether from Thornton or an approved date from another school, are required to abide by the following guidelines. The guidelines are partly based on the daily dress code of Thornton Township High School found in the student handbook.

Suggested Attire

Gentlemen:Dress slacks and a dress shirt are recommended. Dress coats with slacks and

suits are also appropriate attire for this event.

Ladies: Dresses and dress pant suits are appropriate for this event.

General Attire Guidelines

  1. Student attire must be consistent with good health and safety standards.
  2. Attire must reflect propriety; a decent coverage of the body is expected. All skirts and dress slits must

not be above mid-thigh (anything above finger-tips or fully extended arms is too short) even if leggings are worn underneath.

  1. Attire may not have cut-outs that reveal skin, including the midriff. Attire may not have cut-outs covered with sheer fabric that reveal skin.
  2. Attire must cover sides, back and breast areas. Backs of dresses should not go below the mid-back area.
  3. Obscene language or any reference to drugs, alcohol, gang affiliation, or the mistreatment of a minority,

religious or racial group will not be allowed.

  1. Denim, including black denim, of any kind will not be allowed. Denim jeans, jean dresses, and jean skirtsare prohibited.
  1. T-shirts, baby-tees, shorts or gym shoes will not be allowed.
  2. Work boots, Timberlands,or casual sneakers will not be allowed.
  3. Jogging suits- INCLUDING VELOUR SUITS-warm-up suits, sweats, or any type of athletic apparel

will not be allowed.

  1. Jersey dresses, jerseys, baseball caps will not be allowed.
  2. Jumpsuits, cat suits, or overalls will not be allowed.

Students should see your dean, Ms. Comiskey Herrera in 128 or Mr. Christian in T-103if you are not sure your attire is appropriate.

Other Pertinent Information

  1. TTHS students will not be allowed to enter the dance unless they have their TTHS ID.
  2. All guests of TTHS students must have a school ID or state-issued ID to enter the dance.
  3. By purchasing a ticket to the 2014 Homecoming Dance, you and your date have agreed to abide by the dress code guidelines. Failure to comply with the dress code will result in non-admittance to the dance.
  4. If a student is on suspension, they will not be allowed to attend.
  5. Doors will close at 8:30 P.M.
  6. Students on social suspension must have dean permission.
  7. No refunds will be given for any reasons.
