  • Library Information – Kim Cromer (10mins)

Ms. Cromer provided Library information to the IC members.

Please only send five students at a time on a pass from teachers.

Teachers can bring the whole class as long as they are there to supervise them.

Literacy Skills training is available in the library. If you are interested in training for your class, please email Kim Cromer to make an appointment.

Email Kim Cromer if you need to reserve the Library Conference Room.

Ms. Cromer is here to support teachers. Let her know what she can do to assist you. Also, let her know if you need her to order books for you.

  • Introduction – Sky Sackzo (AVID) (5mins)

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination)

AVID preparing students who are 1st generation college students. Students who are in the middle but can achieve and go into honors classes.

AVID Professional Learning Day is November 4th at Tucson High Magnet School.

Badger Pride – The Process

Athletes will be required to attend another conference period on Wednesday afternoon.

They will meet in the Cafeteria. If teachers are meeting in the Cafeteria, Athletes will move to the auditorium.

A tutor has been hired to tutor athletes. Mr. Extract is a former teacher from Sunnyside Unified School District.

The first home football game is at Kino North Complex on August 25th.

  • Only clear bags are permitted

Fire drill

Wednesday during second period

  • Probably two separate parts.

Lock down

Velcro is being attached to doors. A wooden block will be attached to the Velcro. Teachers are to keep the doors locked, but with the block in place the classroom is still accessible. During lock down, the block can be removed and the door will be secured.

Reminder from Ms. Thomas, students must be allowed in the classroom, don’t leave students in hallways.

8th Street

To help alleviate the congestion on 8th street and to help protect our students from accidents, students are to use the gate behind the West Gym.

At this point, everything is a Track-it.

TTL’s can help with minor things like accessing your printer, or Synergy issues.

COW keys are available today

  • Let Ms. Thomas know the room location of your COWs
  • Keep COWs safe, Cows shouldn’t be used by subs.

Next PLC minutes, agendas, and sign-in sheets will be required.

  • Mr. Munger will go over data.
  • How do we overcome the gap of where we are and where we want to be?
  • IC members suggested that students need to be provided clear information to AP students about AP testing.
  • IC members suggested that handbooks should be provided for teachers, parents, and students about AP placement and testing.

Expectations for Open House

August 23rd is Open House.

  • Everyone received a schedule.
  • Teachers will be available in their classroom during the class visit portion.
  • If a teacher is not available, they need to leave a note on the door with their contact information.
  • If a teacher is in a different room, leave a note on the door stating their location.
  • Please ask your teachers to email their evaluating administrator if they are not attending the Open House.

Leveling of classes

Every student should have a schedule with no holes.

Letters are being given to students in classes with substitutes or near/over cap.

Working on level, Ms. Jones is meeting with counselors tomorrow.

  • We are down two counselors and that is effecting progress.
  • Nearing 10 day drop. Please remind teachers we need accurate attendance.

PBIS survey

Andrea sent out PBIS surveys. Ask your department to check their email and take the survey.

Walkthroughs

Instructional focus – collecting data for pre and post conference conversations.

Admin is visible and available for consultations.

District walkthroughs will occur again this year.

Kira will be contacting teachers to start visiting classes- coming as a resource.

Please let Kathleen know if there is something going that she should see/experience so she can promote your department and THMS.
